All Creative Grids rulers have the built in grips. that's part of their branding.

Are you sure you have creative grids? I have the square in a square and it's got grippies. My GF has the FG and i'm pretty sure hers has them too.
Here's the one I have You can see the circles & the perimeter is textured:

I have the 3 1/2 x 12 1/2 Creative Grids ruler. I love it and use it all the time.

I only buy Creative Grids now. I like clear acrylic, good readable Black lines and easy to handle sizes. I ruined more cuts with the ones that have those awful yellow lines. I like to SEE the fabric.
    I have 2 of the 6.5" square ones, a 6.5" x 12.5", one 8.5" x 24. and several in-between these sizes.

I buy Creative Grid for the sizes Quilted Select doesn't have. No ruler on the market now can beat Quilter Select in my opinion.

I love Deb Tucker's rulers. The trick to making them non-skid is to spray a little Flex-Shot Clear on the back of your rulers. Yes, that spray-on rubber stuff. it mists the ruler a bit, but once the ruler is on the fabric, you don't see it. I've sprayed all of mine. Those babies do not move!
