I use something like this, of course I can't remember the name right now. It is not this ruler and they cost lest than 10 bucks. I put them on the ruler myself. After work I will get back with you and let you know the name....

I have a set of acrylic rulers I bought years ago. One has only 7/8" lines starting with 7/8" up to 6 7/8" one has only 1/4" markings and one has only 3/4" markings. I remember they would come three different size markings per set of three rulers from 1 1/4", 1 1/2" on up to 2 1/2" and so on. I wish I had bought the other sets. I bought them from a craft catalog before internet ordering was available. No name on the rulers either.

Seems expensive to me. I just put a sticky note on mine to mark the line. It helps when I get interrupted while cutting.
