I have been told by Joanns cashiers that my card won't work on whatever I'm purchasing for whatever reason, and I say, "Let's try running it through anyway." Often when they scan it, the discount is given to some things, so it never hurts to scan, and I've never had a cashier turn me down.

Was not aware...Thanks...

I agree that the cashiers don't always know if the card will scan or not. If you have one, always try it. Of course, it is considered a coupon in one sense of a way if you are trying to use it with a single purchase, i.e., using a 40% coupon. That's not going to fly but I usually have several items and the computer will figure out where the discount goes. The savings is usually about the amount of taxes.

Got that one! If you are at Hancock's Fabrics and are a member of a quilt guild, you get a 15% discount :) Even better. You do have to have a membership card to show them.

Joann's also has a teachers discount card - 15%. My daughter used to get one a few years back (before she quit to stay home with the kids). All you need is a paycheck from a school district.
