On this marvelous link is one for missing/stolen/lost quilts.
One thing keeps repeating, that quilts sent to others were left on
the front porch and never seen again. Since I also had this happen,
I always send them so they will have to be signed for, or else picked
up at the post office/postal service.
When I order anything myself, or others say they are going to send
me something, I give them the number of a post office box that I've
rented just for that reason. Since I've had it, nothing has been stolen
from MY front porch!!
