That is really pretty!
I admire that you were bold enough to bring in different colors from those suggested.
I am working on Part 7.
Lest anyone think that "it sure is taking her a LONG time" (which it is! <g>) I have an explanation.
During the cutting, I cut more pieces than I needed, just in case and while putting together the first part of the churn dash block, I have discovered that I am actually stitching enough blocks to make THREE of this quilt! I haven't decided if I am an over-achiever or just refuse to follow directions ... LOL
Anyway, I have stated many times that light areas in a quilt make me nervous and are not friend to me, but I am seeing that those neutral string blocks are very needed ... my neutrals are not as similar as your quilts are ... I will have to see if it is going to be anywhere near as pretty as yours is

I love the layouts where the string blocks have a lot of variety in them, really makes it sparkle. I just don't do neutrals in a my quilts very much and was bound and determined to use what I had, that's why mine are more similar. I also like when the string blocks have the constant color in them, really ties things together nicely. Can't wait to see yours - all 3 of them ;)

okay!
Keeping in mind that I just grabbed fabric in the required colors, I have now completed the churn dash blocks and have a total of 74 8-)
so! I know that I made a few extra red/neutral HST strips, but am not sure how many, so I counted out thirty in the quilt I will focus on (pictures tomorrow - - today I am on a ROLL!)
I am pleased to announce that there is actually a theme that came through in the brown/pink HST.
I think I will call it "People of the earth" - - since the themes in my brown fabric are cowboy phrases, brands, timber and American eagles (civil war era) medallions. And! TOOLED Leather! <g>

I am still trying to get my fabrics together - almost have enough of all the colors. My worst problem is that my stash is all over the place in my house. My New Year's resolution is to organize my stash and get it in ONE spot.

Along with that I will be starting on the mystery quilt shortly. I think I am even more excited about the project now that I know how it turns out. :D

Question??? Did anyone find that the some of the pressed seams go the wrong direction? I went back and read all of the clues once more to see if I missed something. I didn't find anything that I did wrong, but I guess I will just repress some of the pieces so they fit nicely together. Unless someone can tell me what I did wrong.

You didn't do anything wrong. From time to time, it just doesn't work to get the seams to butt up against each other. It is rather nice when it works out, but sometimes, it just is not practical.
Not to worry, though - - a nice hot steam iron will make it all lay flat <wave>

I just finished my top-WOW does that feel good! I think I may have a few waves in the border, not sure because I don't have a large enough space to lay it out all the way. Really don't have any idea of how to quilt this and am really leaning on letting someone else quilt it for me. I have only sent one other quilt to a longarmer, and found that I was not as fond of it as a result. Difficult decision as I think it will be difficult to do on my home machine due to its size and MANY seams.
