Sewing for Mental Health
#12
Some place I saw a quote, probably on facebook, "The best antidepressant is a room full of fabric".
I think it's a store full of fabric! On sale.....
Sometimes I don't even sew. Just being in my sewing room is calming.
Love this thought... it's so true.

Sewing/quilting has helped me through many, many difficult times in the my life. Right now, y quilting room is my salvation. Have my husband here at home in Hospice care. I am the caregiver 24/7....except for the aides. They are here one hour Monday thru Friday to help with his bathing. I still have all my marbles, at least, I am told that I do.
SEWBIZGIRL is right on........the best antidepressant is a room full of fabric.

I think this is the best excuse I can think of to buy more fabric and spend more time sewing. It's for my mental health!

What a great article and so true! My first real interest in needlework was at a time in my life when I was really stressed. I'm high-strung to begin with and I've always gravitated to needlework. Without realizing at the time I believe it calmed me down. First it was cross-stitch, then sewing, then quilting. Quilting makes me happy all the time and I hope I never quit. Not likely!
