Nope...I was one of the dodos who ripped out each and every stitch.

I learned to rip out with a pin......

I finally learned to do it this way when I started quilting a couple of years ago. So much better!

But did anyone else cringe when they saw her pointing the ripper towards her other hand? One miss of a stitch and she'd be ripping open her hand/arm! The old schoolteacher in me must say, "Please, boys and girls, always point sharp objects AWAY from your body when cutting!"

So did I. This actually makes me wonder how else one might be doing it.
I, too, didn't know there was an other way. I have always done it this way. Is it an age thing? I am 69 & this is the way I was taught to do it.

My friend taught me this a couple years ago. Makes life a little simpler I think.

Thanks. One of my friends showed me this method when I first started quilting, and it is great. I keep masking tape handy and use it to pick up all those little snips of thread afterward...
I think you are very nice to keep us informed with all these tips and video demos, Crafty Bear. This is a nice service you provide.

I'm 37, so maybe it's not that much of an age thing.

But my grandmother comes from a family of tailors and I might have learnt it from her. But I actually think, I'm doing it this way, because I'm lazy by nature and try to figure out more efficient ways for doing most things.

That is how I've been doing it, but it still takes more time to unsew, than it does to sew. :o)
