Thanks for posting the link to her blog as I had not seen her work! Although most folks don't concern themselves with business overhead expenses for large or small businesses, they are real for the owners, especially small businesses. Obviously they can and should take all business tax deductions and credits they are legally allowed. I do buy directly from the designers if possible, online or if they come as a guild speaker or quilt shows. Free patterns are good and sometimes inspirational from a concept that is presented in a way that is simple. That's the wonderful part of quilting, something for everyone to experience from types of batting, fabrics (LQS purchases, cotton men's shirts, gifted fabric, estate sales, thrift shops), threads, tools (vintage and new machines) and even patterns. I really enjoy being part of the quilting community for the appreciation of others' passion for this art/hobby/addiction.
