Default Emb. Designs and Hoop Sizes.

    I am befuddled...

My two Emb Machines have the largest hoop sizes being 8"x12" and 6"x10".
Now I am curious what is the largest size of design I can embroider?
I have a large design in my cart and it keeps saying it is too large. I have changed my hoop size settings on the site.
    Please advise.

    Thankyou,

    Kirsten

The actual embroidery field is about 1/2 inch smaller than the hoop size. Pay attention to hoop sizes as it does matter. Here is a little help to understand hoop sizes and the embroidery field.

My magnetic hoop (inside) is 17 x 10.5. The design field is only 9x14. If I move or rotate a design out of field, the machine tells me to use a larger hoop.

The machine needs room for the embroidery foot to move so you don't hit the edge of the hoop.

Be sure to set the hoop size in the machine preference page if you have that feature.

It is possible that there is a stitch outside of the main part of the embroidery design. Can you step through the embroidery design a stitch at a time and look for a stitch that doesn't belong?

My largest frame is 200mm x 260mm - but if I have a design that is 220mm x 190mm and it displays wrong my system will tell me it is too big. I have to rotate the design so the length and width are in the proper direction. One would think the system would change it automatically - but it doesn't.

    Kirsten,

Another tip is to shrink the design just a little. My last project gave me "change to larger hoop" message. I took the design down one click and then it worked.
