quilty-louise,
I always have a problem especially with towels to align the marks. I'm going to google this and see what I come up with. I'll let you know, thanks for the fyi! |
TOO CUTE! but how the heck did you do that on a roll of toilet paper?????????
You have to unroll quite a bit, stitch it out, then roll it back up again. |
Hi i just found this thread. I have 2 em one in nz and one in aus as i spend 6 months in each country. They are both Janome 350 e s and i got them so i could learn the processes. I am loving it. I want to learn how to digitize and I wonder if anyone could let me know about digitizing programs etc.

PamQuilts,
I know this is a late comment to your posting from Jan 3rd about not knowing how to do embroidery on your machine. Which machine do you have? I also have a Viking. Maybe I could help you :) |
I went from home machines to commercial ones
I started out with a BabyLock when the only sewing field in the industry you could buy was a 4x4. Then I went to a Brother 8200, upgraded to an 8500 and then bought a 15 needle SWF embroidery machine 10 years ago. I'm on my second SWF machine and I love it! I've digitized with Brother software, Compucon and now use Sierra Expert software. I make gifts for family and now I'm starting to add embroidery designs to quilts I make.
|
I started out with a Bernina Deco that Hubby surprised me with for Christmas several years ago and i had No ideal about computors or software but I learned quick,I now own a Singer Furta and a Brother PE 780D.I still have Bernina Deco that sews a 4x4 field along with the Amazing Box rewritable cards (3) that I no longer use and have been thinking about advertizing for sale as I have not used either for at least 3 years and just taking up space. But I have learned (self taught ) a lot about machine embroidery and if any one has a question would be glad to help if I can.I usely do most emb. for Christmas gifts, last year I made 13 emb. fleece blankets for the kids in our family gift exchange along with mitten pockets which I stuffed with dollar type iteams. They are still well loved.I have made FSL cross bookmarks for bible study,Old Mc Donald finger puppets, and am now working on a little girls play purse that has LOTS of fun stuff in it.
Well I think that I've made this long enough but once again if I can help let me know and I also know of some great web sites for reasonable priced designs. |

I have a Viking Designer. Sold my Brother. All it ever did was break the thread.

Ok, I have a question for all you embroidery experts out there. What kind of stabilizer would I use with this? It's 100% rayon, texture and drape mimics pashima silk. If possible, I'd like to have a double sided design on the ends. Theorys, suggestions??

I have the Brother Babylock Embroidery Professional 6 needle.
It reads PES. I don't work on it much. Want to sell it really. |

I have a small paintbrush that I use to stick down in back of the bobbin area, and it catches dust bunnies in there like crazy. I do wish I could get new designs from the internet, but the converter box I'd need cost about $500, which is way too much for me, especially now that I've retired.

I just took my brand new machine in to the shop yesterday. Only
had it since January 13th, but the first time it got used was 9 days AFTER I bought it. Problem? the automatic thread fell off, it keeps breaking upper thread and just before the threader fell off the needle broke. They requested a RUSH to be done on the repairs so "hopefully" I will be able to get my machine back by Wednesday. |

For a converting program, I purchased a program from Logo Tools for $100. It is great and very reasonable. Tech support has been great each time my computer has crash or I've gotten a new computer, they have helped me install on another computer. I purchased online. You can google Logo Tools. |

I have this same problem with my Babylock Esante. The first one that I got had this problem and it is in the shop and the loaner that they gave me, same model, has now done the same thing. Just wondering if yours is the same model.... Thanks for any info! CherylW |
The machine that went in the shop for repair is a Brother Innov-Is 1500D.
They just called me about 30 minutes ago and said the machine was ready to be picked up. Now that is what I call "RUSH" service lol. I just took the machine in on Saturday, and the repairs techs do not work on the weekends. Not to mention that they do not open until 9am, and it is just now 10.25am. He said that it is something that does happen on occasion with the automatic threader falling off. Although with my other Brother emb machine this has never happened in the 5+ years I have had it. He also told me the was a massive "nest" of thread bunched up around the upper tension area and even though I had taken the cover off the machine to clean it, it was in an area that I would not have been able to see anyways. As for the needle breaking, he did not find any pieces inside the machine, but also did not know that the needle had broken, so he was going to take another look to make sure it was "clean" of needle pieces.

I have a Janome 11000 and a Janome 10000 ...love both machines. I have made many quilts-king size, queen size, and baby quilts. There are so many designs to purchase or digitize yourself. I am embroidering blocks for a dresden plate at this time. I purchased the 10000 a few years ago and now "advanced" to the 11000 for size of hoops and other advantages. Both have been excellent machines and no problems. I did have a Brother 4500D , but sold that just recently as the Janomes are my favorite. (That's just my opinion). I'm also making In The Hoop mug mats and 'little' things like that...fun, fun. Enjoy your machine, so many things to make.

QuiltyLouise,
I ordered the hoop grip tape and waiting for it! Saw a tut on it and looks like it will solve my alignment problems! I'll let you know how it works for me. Hope you have your machine fixed and ready to roll! I was at my babylock dealer in Sarasota, FL and had my eye on the ellageo 3 but even if i tried trading it in it would be too much :( Maybe I'll hit the lotto... |
I know it works great for me. I do a lot of FSL and the
stabilizer use to always slip and sag, but now it doesn't and my FSL looks so much better than it use.

Just got a confirmation that the grip tape is on its way! I did a label today for one of my brother's quilt, I'll take a photo and show soon...

Do any od you embroiders use the Hoop-it-All hoops on your machines, I was looking at them wondering if they really work and on which machines i have a singer futura?
|
Quilty Louise,
I received the Hoop Grip today and am going to try it tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes. Emblibrary.com has some nice sales going on right now and plan on using the Sunbonnet Sue redwork they had for $1.00 each on tea towels. |
I have Brother Innovis 4000D it uses the PES format. I use Embird for all viewing, changing formats and unzipping files. I don't use it for digitizing (I don't digitize :-) ) enough designers out there without my bumbling efforts.
|
I just bought a Brothers PE 780 D from my LQS...It to takes pes files... What is a PED Basic??????? My machine does 5&7..... Just learning to use it......
|
I have a Brother SE400. Although it lists software upgrades and large hoop sizes fit it, it will only go to about 3.5" max. Someone one the Brother board suggested I do my embroidery picture in half. How in the world would I do that?

I have a Bernina 830 and took one lesson a year ago on embroidery, but forgot everything she taught me. I am going over next week to take another lesson, hopefully. This time, when I get home, I will start embroidering so I will learn and remember how to do it. The dealer made it look so easy, but I know that it won't be that easy for me.

I have the Brother 4000D, and have not learned how to use it. I bought it about 3 years ago at a good price, and have just started piecing with it. One of my goals for this year is to learn how to do embroidery. This might just be the group to motive me:)
Hugs Caroline |
I also have a Bernina 630 with embroidery module.

Well, my Brother PE 770 got here on Thursday and I got it unpacked, plugged it in and played with the touch screen, but I haven't ordered any thread yet. Has anyone heard of "Ameth" embroidery thread? It's supposed to be good thread and is fairly inexpensive, but I don't know anyone who uses it. It only comes on the very large cones (5000m). The Brother dealer at the Dallas quilt show recommended Robison-Anton. I'm looking on the internet for thread because I don't have a dealer in my area. Do any of you buy thread on Ebay?
|
Here is the name of an embroidery thread co. I have used recently, they have both small and large spools of thread, also sell backing. www.metroemb.com. they are not to expensive, I got fast service and am very pleased with the thread. Check out thier web sight . Good luck with your new machine.
|
The price is right with Metro, but both times I have checked them, they are out of stock!

I have a Viking and hardly ever embroider. I've taken classes and can do the basics but there's so much to learn and remember. I need to start using it more. The one project I'm going to begin is a baby quilt with embroidered blocks that have ABC's/pictures. I'm not sure what stabilizer to use. The quilt will be machine washed and I worry about the embroidery looking all wrinkled and wonky. Any suggestions? Thanks!
|
I am LOVING this thread. Is there a possibility of getting a sub-forum for our embroidery work. I have read all replys, but when a new one is posted I have to go to the last page to read the latest post. I am very interested in incorporating quilting and embroidery. I have a Janome 9700, a 10,001 and just purchased the 12000 that I have not started using. I LOVE The Quilting Board, most everyone is so caring and helpful. Thanks to you all. I may not post much, but I have learned so much from others and the way you people care is just wonderful. I feel as if I know most of you personally. Thanks so much Jan for the help with the Nine Patch on Point. It is almost finished and came out great thanks to you and your help.
|
do you embroider the blocks before you join them when making a quilt??
