Thanks, but I missed out on it. Should have purchased when I seen it, but I wanted to discuss with DH before doing so and he tells me I should have snagged it that he would have understood. :( Oh well, I'm sure another great deal will come along again. :)

I have a Topaz 30 also. My husband put a coat hanger on the wall and I just use a pillowcase that I made bigger at the opening seems to work pretty good.

Sharon TX you grabbed a great deal! I went to the link and I guess the prices went right back up! Enjoy it though I hear good things about this machine.

I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place.....if not can someone let me know where to post it. Thanks!
I have a Janome 300e and I'm am trying desperately to learn to use it. I have gotten all the basics but one big problem is getting designs lined up correctly. I want/need to make a label for a quilt that I have ready to gift. I used one of the built in designs on a piece of muslin. It is a flowered frame...a design that is built into the machine. WELL, I was surprised that I wasn't able to go to the wording and type in more than one line. Then I was short one letter of being able to put just "Made by Pat Smith"....the "h" wouldn't fit and I was using the smallest font. Then I decided I'd just write the "Made by" on one line and put my name on the next line and the date on a third line. But then I don't know how to get the lines all lined up. Am I making any sense? I don't want to invest money into a digitizer program at this point. Is there any way I'm able to do this otherwise. I have downloaded a free program that was suggested on this post called Wilcom and was so happy that I am able to view the designs on the computer instead of having to guess what they are by the file name/number. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Pat |
Pat, I've come across that issue myself from time to time. Here's what I do, although I'm sure there are other solutions that are better ...
First the size of the frame. If you know that the text isn't likely to fit try expanding the frame. I don't know if your machine has the function, but I can expand and shrink mine a little. Secondly, do your best to use a smaller font that will fit. This of course, depends on what you have on your machine. To line up the lines of type, I go row by row moving them down a bit and using the layout function on my machine before I stitch. It will generally circle around the area where the stitching will fall so I can be sure that it isn't overlapping or too far away. Again, I don't know if your machine has this. Hope this helps a little. |

Pat, for the sake of a few labels, I wouldn't buy a digitizing program, but that's me. I'd either make the border bigger or do without a border. There are a few freebie tiny fonts around and also some label designs for sale -- much cheaper than a digitizing program. PM me and with your email when and if I find them, I'll be happy to share.

That is the hoop set I just purchased through Mr Vac and Mrs Sew.....great to do business with.
Congrats on the machine! I find it hard to stay away from mine!

Thanks Natalieg, that sounds better than charging by the bobbins used. I will probably bill her for a portion of the designs I will have to purchase. I could kick myself for not buying those Sunbonnet Sues on Emb Library when they were on sale!

Thank you! :) I missed out on the deal on Amazon.
But now, since missing out on the deal, I'm struggling with trying to decide if I want an embroidery machine only or a sewing and embroidery machine combo. :(

I have to say that I LOVE both my combo sewing/embroidery
machines. Not sure at this point if I would want an embroidery only machine since all I have ever had was the combos, but I guess that is where personal choice comes into play.

Hi Ladies!! This is my first post on this thread so I'm sorry if this has already been talked about. I purchased several Anita Goodesigns CDs a year ago & they are still sitting unopened. I have the Bernina 440 with em modual. Any help, ideas, suggestions on using these designs? I use the Bernina designs now or some from EML. I have only worked on towels, quilt labels & a few baby items. I need to use my toys more often. Help!!!

I totally agree with all of you. How about I start the ball rolling and start a new thread - I'll call it: Embroidery Machine lovers - July, 2012 If you guys like it, you can post on there, if not I guess everyone will continue on this thread. No harm, no foul. :) |
I decided to go with the PE 770 after all. Before placing the order on Ebay for $455.00, I checked Amazon one more time and found a deal even better than the one I missed out on. I was able to purchase a NEW one for $400.00 plus 17.99 shipping! Doing the happy dance! lol :)
Thank you all for your advice. :) http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002MQI2NM/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

I know there will be as many opinions on this as there are quilters. I bought a combo and pretty much never took the embroidery unit off so my next one was the PE-770. Although I have several machines, my work-a-day set up is an L shaped desk with embroidery machine on right and sewing machine on left. Works for me ... what works for you?

Mine is U-shaped. I have a smaller cutting/ironing area to my left that I use when piecing, my Elna in front and my PE 770 on the right. All my embroidery thread is in 4 plastic containers that stack and attach to each other with a handle on the top. I keep that on a shelf under the machine. Got the containers at JoAnn. I use a long plastic drawer divider to line up my thread for a project, then work on something else until it needs a thread change. I don't have to get up from my chair to change the thread. |

Just received an email from this embroidery site and thought everyone would like to see the "antique machines" embroidery!! These would be adorable on a wallhanging or quilt!! |
Sharon, congratulations! That is a fantastic price! You'll love it.
|
I would love to chat about embroidery machines. I have several Bernina emb. machines and user them just about daily. I make a LOT of purses and emroidery on most of them. My customers love being able to have their purses custom made with whatever they want on them.

This site has several old time machines too. I LOVE this site! They always have sales.

It is my #1 favorite site for embroidery designs.
Plus every month they have 2+ free designs. All their designs are TOP quality, but they can be rather dense to stitch out so make sure you use the right stabilizer (some designs may need to have 1 or more floating layers). Here is a design that I recently finished the design is from Embroidery Library.

I have the Memory Craft 8000, I used to do all the embroidery for my kids clothes etc.
|
Oh I love that cockatoo!

Quilty-Louise, nice job! Love emblibrary myself and love their sales!
|
WHOO HOO!!! I just got my new Brother Innovis 2800D yesterday! Does anyone have this model???
|
Nice work, Quilty. Just wondering - was the stippling part of the design or did you add it?
I've purchased a lot of designs from emblibrary. Their service is wonderful. I had one design that had a trouble spot. I described the issue, showed them exactly where it was and they sent me an updated design that corrected the trouble spot. |
No that is not part of the design it was one of my stitches on my
other sewing/emb machine of course I used the "FM" foot and I should have just used a regular foot (the "J" foot). Oh well my swap partner (on another website) loved it and the details of the bird. There has only been ONE (1) design from emb. library that I have ever had issues with stitching out and that is the FSL calla lily. I tried EVERYTHING different combinations of thread, needles, and stabilizers and NOTHING worked I sent an email to emb library and got a reply say to follow their tutorial and use the same products they use, to which I had done prior to sending them the email. I finally gave up and decided one stupid design wasn't worth the hassle of all that so I just don't use it at all not.
