Hmmm yeah probably, haven't thought of that.

I also have a Janome 350E, with Digitizer Jr software. I can't figure out how to use the software (other than to make quilt labels), and would love to know if really good lessons are available. Thanx.

I wanted to order also, but didn't see any format. I can use HUS or VP3, but my program converts if necessary. Anyone know what format Tuckers Treasures has the designs in?

All or most of the formats are included in the zip files.

Thank you for the link, Quilty-Louise! I purchased and downloaded last night. And I did see that most of the formats were included. Now if I can figure out how to get rid of all the formats I don't use; so it doesn't take up all that space on my computer lol.

Krysti,
I remove the format (PES) that I use along with the pdf, jpg files and move the rest to a separate folder (but I have the hard drive space to do that with). You can always just delete them or maybe burn them to a disc.

Formats for Tuckers Treasures:
FORMATS AVAILABLE All our designs come in the following formats (depending on your machine and hoop size available) 1.ART 2.DST 3.EXP 4.HUS 5.JEF 6.PES 7.SEW 8.VIP |
If it is a zip folder you have to extract the file. (right click and extract) Once it is open, you can right click any file, click properties, so you can see which file it is (JEF,VIP, and so one), right click the ones you don't want and delete. If you made a mistake, you can find them in your trash, unless you cleaned that out too. I would save the zipped file on a USB stick or disk. This way you have them for future use. I am running on Windows 7, so not sure if yours is the same, but it can't be too far off.

Thanks Louise, I ordered and downloaded them too - what a great buy! And how generous of her to share all of her hard work. I need time to sit and look at all of the designs, but what I have seen are Very cute.

That is a lovely quilt and I love the idea of incorporating embroidered blocks with the rest of the quilt. Just purchased a Baby Lock Ellure machine in April, but so far have only embroidered with it.

Am I doing something wrong? I downloaded all the design from Tuckers Treasurers and got hundreds of designs. My problem is to get rid of all the formats I don't need. The only way I can see to do this is open each design and delete unwanted formats. That will take forever. Is there another way?
|
If you had THUMBNAILER, or a similar software, the images in your format would show and you could delete the rest. Otherwise, I only know to R-click then open 'properties' of ea to find your format. After you find it (say it's the 5th in the row)--then start the next search at the 5th icon to see if it's yours. For each design can be tedious. There are some free softwares that might help...Pulse Ambassador will let you set to 'open' only your format; Wilcom might (I've never used it). Maybe someone else has better advice.
|
That is pretty much what I was starting to do also.
But gave up now I am "rethinking" how I want to go about it. Although in the past what I have done is "extract" ALL my zip files into the folder I saved them in once they had all been extracted I "sorted" by file type. From there I highlight and cut (or copy) JUST the format I want/need to another folder and do the same for any other files I want to keep such as jpg images or pdf/text files that may have any special instructions. Once I remove those files than I save the zip file to another for "burning" to a disc to keep a "backup" copy or memory stick if you have extra of them (I have a total of 15 jump drives from 1gig up to 32gig). Of course I KNOW there has to be better and/or easier ways of doing things, but for now this works for me.

Here's what I do ~ similar to Louise's method. All my downloads go into a download folder. From there I extract them and get rid of the zip files.
The unzipped folders and files are moved to a folder named 1 -- that way it's at the top of the list of all my embroidery folders. From there, using windows explorer, I cascade the embroidery folders on the left and click on the folder labeled 1. As I go through each of these folders I use the Control-Enter function to highlight all the formats and sizes I don't want and then using the right click function I delete them. Then I rename the folder or design to something that makes sense and drag and drop it into the folder on the left. |

I used to use the above methods until I bought "Thumbnailer" for about $39. Now when I open a file, my .pes file shows as the actual image of the design & I can save it to "my docs" & delete the rest (I have no use for other formats since I can also change to another). It is great to open my docs and see my designs all arrayed exactly as they stitch out. Makes it so convenient for selecting.
|
Not sure if I have thumbnailer, but whatever I bought ~ for about the same amount of money ~ it was worth every penny!
|
I ordered mine from http://embrilliance.com/products and it was on sale--came on a CD for installation--had all the formats and you could choose all to be displayed or just the format you use. I love it!

Hello all! I just saw the new line of Babylock machines coming out soon. I am totally in love with the features of the Babylock Spirit, an embroidery machine only! I love the babylock machines but this one is special. It has a sensor pen in which you touch the fabric and the machine knows the placement of where you want the design to be stitched at, that means no more crosshairs!!!!!!!! Check it out on www.babylock.com or google Babylock Spirit embroidery machine. They also have two other machines coming out the Unit and Endurance as well as a new long-arm for quilting called the Tiara. I'm waiting to see how much the Spirit will be and make my decision. I will though need to sell the present one I have the Ellure Plus but let's see.

I have a Bernina 180E my husband bought me in 1999. I can't count the number of quilt blocks I have embroidered.
I am very pleased with my Bernina, everyone remarks on how nice my embroidered quilts are. I use a PES2Card to transfer designs from a CD to a design card. Currently I am stitching Laurel Burch Mythical Horses into quilt blocks, using the Turning Twenty- Around the block pattern by Tricia Cribbs. Machine embroidery has given me/quilters so many wonderful designs to add to our quilts. |

1000rpm working speed, equipped with upper thread holding system, suitable for embroidery sample production and small capacity production. Embroidery machine upper thread holding device is a functional mechanism acting during trimming ,color-changing and machine starting (auto color-changing auto trimming type) to prevent upper thread from dropping. Adoption of the device can prevent thread from dropping when machine stops, reduce upper thread dropping rate, enhance trimming effect and improve productivity, Now, it has been widely seen in high-speed embroidery machine. |
My LQS is a Pfaff dealer but they now carry Babylocks. I purchased the Babylock Imagine Serger last Christmas and love it. I was able to get free lessons through the shop bc I purchased it through them. I have the Pfaff Creative Vision but did not purchase through my LQS so I barely know how to use the embroidery part of the machine. I have done very minor things with it but now I am determined to learn the machine one way or another. Reading everyone's post and seeing pictures of quilts with embroidery has me motivated. Unfortunately no one has any helpful Pffaf You Tube videos and the manual is not user friendly. I have searched the internet high and low and there is no good helpful info. I have even called another shop that carries Pfaffs to see if they offer classes but they work the same as my LQS. If you didn't buy it at their shop they can't help you. I wish they would change their policies. I'm not looking for free lessons like they offer when you buy the machine through the shop. I would pay to have lessons on my machine. Oh well, I will try to learn on my own but this is going to be a mission but I want to use the machine and take advantage of all its features. I am also excited bc Pfaff is realising and embroidery package for the MAC. But I have no idea to download designs or anything so this should be interesting.

I was such a bad girl last night......
I purchased the Thumbnailer you all are so correct I have only looked at a couple of my design folders and I am so happy that I got it. It is definitely going to make sorting my designs and SEEING them so much easier!! Thank you all for the continued mention of this program to the point I checked it out and bought it for myself. Hubs isn't to happy that I spent the money, but oh well such is life I guess. |
Louise, consider it money well spent. If you can SEE your designs, you are more likely to USE your designs!

I'm going to look at that thumbnailer as well. I have all of my designs on my flash drive (2 of them) and have no idea how to organize them in to seperate categories ie., flowers...On another note here are the roosters that I had stitched out on kitchen towels. I found these towels at the Old Time Pottery store here and they were two for 3.00! Not bad considering that its already got a border and crochet. I hope I can get these photos posted! Designs came from emblibrary.com

Beeboop71; Do you have any of the sew n vac places up there. I know that here they have a monthly club and everyone is invited to join and you can learn alot from them. My Viking dealer says everyone is welcome to her monthly classes. It's 40 for the year if you didn't buy machine from them plus monthly supplies for what we are making. I hope you can find someone to help you. I love doing embroidery and do a lot of looking online at sites tutorials and projects which I learn a lot about. Florani and Viking (Pfaff) have printable files on stabilizers and such. Every month Pfaff and Viking give a free design. Most of the time it's the same one for both machines but sometimes it's different and they also have instructions for making a project w/that design. I check them both out so when they are different I can download them both. I can use any design on my machine but the Pfaff also uses the vp3 that I use for my Ruby. Have you tried other shops other than Pfaff dealers; some of them may offer help. I'm currently working on the tutorials that come in the modules of my software for my machine so I don't know it you have them or not. I really wish you luck. Once you start doing the embroidery you'll love it. I was also happy when I saw the email from Viking about the software for MAC users. I don't have a MAC but have seen where alot do and they need software too. If I can help in any way just let me know and I'll try to answer any questions you have. Also check out Florani when they are doing classes; I'm going to one this month; it cost 30 and I get 599 in free things. I've heard they teach alot about embroidery in general. I also plan on going to a weekend embroidery in Richmond VA in October. It's for 2 days, they supply everything including use of a Brother machine and lots of free designs. They have lots of experienced teachers there so you can ask lots of questions. Even though they don't use your machine you might be able to get enough from the two classes that will give you more confidence in using yours. Just google classes in your area.

The towels are so pretty. Love the embroidery designs.
