Hi everyone! I know the answer to my question is in here somewhere but with 172 pages and my techno disabilities, I can't find it! I have a new ( from Christmas) Jenome 350E and my bobbin thread is suddenly coming thru A LOT! i have removed and replaced both the bobbin and the thread. I am currently embroidering on denim and am using a stiff cut-away stabellizer. any ideas ??

I have the Singer Futura SES 2000 which I have however yesterday I went out and bought the Brother Quatto 2 6700D which is top of the line. I was looking at lesser cost machines but they all lacked one or more things I wanted it to do and found while researching that the Quattro 2 absolutely has all I was looking for and than some. It will arrive here by end of next week.
I am however still keeping my SES 2000 and will give it to my almost 11 year old grand daughter. She will have to though come here for a couple years to use it cause I simply do not trust her family and there taking it away from her and giving it to someone in her mothers family or selling it from under her. They have been known to do that over the years when I have given the kids computers, DS, and more and I'm not about to allow this to happen. She really wants this machine just like the iPad I have here that she uses when she comes over. Its sad when you can't as a kid even trust your family to take what is yours and selling it or giving it to someone else. I started taking embroidery classes this last month to learn about the different fabrics, stabilizers, threads and needles used for various projects like doing cutwork, lace embroidery and more. I never knew there was so much to learn regarding using these materials. All I had ever seen around here were folks just hooping a piece of fabric and stitching and taking these classes I see why most of them have there pieces puckered up or worst. My SES broke a needle today and realized the reason it did was where you put the needle that piece was loose and fell out so now I have to play with it this week to get that silly thing back on. Had a class today and the teacher was good enough to let me use her Brother machine which is the Noviis 7000d I think it was. Actually I'm glad my machine did what it did cause it gave me a chance to play with a totally computerized machine and boy was it fun and like night and day from my SES. I still like my SES though and I still plan to use it for auto punch, cross-stitching, and photostitching once I put that piece back on and of course will use it until my Brother comes in next week. Today we learned to do cutwork and lace work using various materials. I will upload photos of it later on. Will have to take pictures of it. |
just got my new brother pe770 a few weeks back, having so much fun making lace snowflakes, icicles, reindeer and driedels. trying to get a jump on the holidays. what's your opinion on the snowflakes and reindeer as ornaments for the swap this year.
the only thing I don't like about this machine is I can't back up. if someone here knows how, please let me know. thanks |

qn4e - If you have any plans for building up the amount of embroidery thread
you have (me I plan to eventually have ALL the Floriani colors) I would HIGHLY recommend you getting the metal drawer from Ikea, they cost $40 each and are the PERFECT interior height for holding the spools. PLUS each drawer can hold 40 spools. The drawers come in 3 colors silver, white & red. I have 2 silver and 1 red and hope to get at least 3 more someday. Below is acouple pictures of my cabinets. I only have the pieces of paper to "label" the number range in each drawer. Once I have ALL the colors I will pull out my trust (and MUCH used)label maker and make labels for the drawers. These are the drawers I have from IKEA. I love your storage ideas. |
Thanks Ms. Grace my storage ideas all come from trial and error.
However I was told about those metal drawers from the saleslady at the shop where I buy my thread, machine etc...so happy she did because they have been the BEST thing ever for my thread. |
bobbin thread out detector
I noticed that lately my bobin thread out detector seems to not be detecting so well! I started working on a project that at times I disable the cutting jump stitches part and since I did that my bobbin just runs out. I hate it when I've gone through an entire design without bobbin thread. For some reason, it just doesn't look quite as good as with thread :)
My machine is a Brother Quattro 6000D. I've resent everything numerous times, turned it off and on, and it still doesn't detect. Any ideas - anyone? TIA, Jane |
I have actually been using my machine for regular sewing and the bobbin empty detector is working. Hmmmm! I will try another embroidery and see what happens.

Got my Brother Quanttro 2 in today so will be busy in next few days getting familiar with it. So much stuff. I am really impressed so far and haven't even turned the machine on yet.

Lynnie,
Sending you a PM with my phone number. I could have told you in person on Tuesday, but someone who shall remain nameless forgot to tell me about lunch. Krystyna

<-- fighting the tears
I have had a brand new Brother PE770 sitting in my sewing room since the middle of March and am so frustrated with it. I had so much fun playing with the "canned" designs that it didn't take me long to sit down on the computer to shop for some special projects. I found two great sites and bought quite a few designs. I was careful to download them as PES. But when I went to make some changes in size or add some words, before moving it to the machine, I get this strange message about needs to know what program to use. I am not a computer geek but I keep thinking that I am missing a part or something. HELP !

Yes I finally turned it on. That baby hums away very nicely. I am extremely impressed with how the projects turn out. I've been playing with it to get familiar with the functions of the machine and love it but than again I'm a quick study so it doesn't take me long to learn things.
I so agree that there are tons of things to learn and I guess that's why I like embroidery so much. One day, I will get a big stand alone. Floriani has a great workbook on stabilizers that goes over each one. I found alot of short cuts to help keep the cost down, which helps me enjoy it more and still produce great items. Love, love, love cutwork. My Viking has the cutting needles and it sure makes it easier than when I first learned how to do cutwork and you had to cut the sections out by hand. Love doing lace as well. It took me a while to figure out how to do it using the spools of serger thread. I had tons of it and its so much cheaper and for lace I normaly don't care about the sheen you get from rayon. Now I love doing the lace so much more because I can afford it easier and without the frustrations that I had when I first started using the serger thread. Good luck on your new machine. |
I haven't tried cutwork yet but have collected lots of patterns. One of these days. I have to stop collecting at Cute Embroidery. Toooooo many!
Has anyone taken the Floriani classes? My husband and I are going to one at the end of the month. Hope it's not a waste of time and money. |

Here's the package - $49 includes lunch and an embroidery gift package valued at $599
Both hubby and I are going since he helps me with a lot of the embroidery work for my business ... so we're getting doubles on the designs but I think he'll have fun learning. |
I wish they would have one of the Floriani seminars here in the Denver
area. I would attend it at any cost (almost), but $49 is a great deal. Last time I seen the Floriani classes in CO was last year and they were way up north (that is what we call any area north of Denver) they were in Ft. Collins & Greeley both of which is over an hour from me, and I HATE driving on the interstate (nerves are shot by the time I get there). |

i'll be going to my second one in sept. I went to the one last yr and i'd heard mixed reviews on it but i figured for 39 and you got 500 if freebees it was a no brainer. This yr its 49 and 599 in free thread, designs, stabilziers, etc. You learn so much and take your check book because you have the opportunity to get some great deals as well. I jumped at the chance to go again this yr. Lots of information there so that's why i'm going again this yr. Have fun. I hope this is the one you are talking about; if so it's worth it.

Yes I discovered the Aurora date when I went to the Floriani website
yesterday. Last time I had checked the website which was a few months ago there was no CO locations listed. I sent Above & Beyond Sewing an email inquiring about sign ups. Even put it in my calendar for a weekly reminder to check sign up status. Now to just save up my money so I can attend.

I will be going to my second Floriani class in June in San Marcos. I really enjoyed the first one that I went to to last year.

Question - today I looked at two brands of embroidery only machines. The Baby Lock Spirit and the Brother Innov-is VE2200 are basically the same machine. They do the same things and look almost identical. The Brother is a few hundred dollars less. I am interested in any input you may have on the machines. Thank you
|
Babylocks are made by Brother to Babylocks specs. Unless you can see a difference there probably isn't any. The programmed patterns might be different but that is probably all.
|
Singer Sewer, I own the Babylock Spirit and just love it. Yes it is more costly than the Brother one and yes Babylock does also the Brother machines. I would suggest that you test each out. If it is a matter of finances I'd go with the Brother. I got my Babylock Spirit at a "baby shower" in a lqs and got a great deal on it since I traded in my Babylock Ellure plus and she gave me a wonderful price. Good luck on your decision, its what your happy with!

I have a Viking Diamond that took me 3 years to get around to opening the embroidery unit, now everything gets embroidered!
I made 22 custom golf towels for my husbands annual golf trip and a quilt for the baby of someone dear to me. I am currently working on about a dozen other projects. |
