Love the "clothesline" design...where did you get it? Think I just might NEED it too!

emblibary.com normally has them under their freebees. I have several different ones.

Krystyna 06-12-2013 04:27 AM

I love their clothesline designs. I don't think I saw that one ... off to hunt!

quiltnut4ever 06-12-2013 03:40 PM

Yes it is! I'm hoping the recipient likes it!

LynnVT 06-12-2013 03:51 PM

I have a Janome MC9000 which I dearly love for everything, but I must confess I don't do much with the embroidery. I have a bunch of the cards, mostly flowers and things, but not a lot of variety. I do use the one that has quilting designs - of course they are pretty small, but they are good to use for quilting small blocks. Probably would use it more if I had more of the cards, but they are $50 each, usually.

gramquilter2 06-14-2013 06:34 AM

What a great thread this is, I have found so many new places to find embroidery designs. Thanks everyone.

clothing labels

Some time ago I posted about making labels. Since then, I've experimented and made some discoveries that may help someone else along the way. I started with the paper backed, sticky, tear away stabilizer which worked nicely. I made needle marks for the boundaries of the labels, cut out the paper, and for each subsequent label I cut a little piece of stabilizer and stick on the window. Saves tremendously on the stabilizer. I use white embroidery thread in the bobbin so it's not quite so heavy. I found a source for cotton twill tape that comes on a 72 yard roll and is extremely cheap per label. My latest discovery is a paper backed sticky water soluble stabilizer from Sulky. It seems to be stickier than the tear away so holds better during stitch out, and the rinse out is awesome. Certainly cuts the time. And best of all, 50% off at JoAnn's. thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. Love it!

Looked at the 11000 today and was very interested. How do you like yours and what would you change about it.

Queens 06-15-2013 05:13 PM

How do you like your 11000?

"Happy Dance"

My daughter just called me and said that she got me registered
to attend the Floriani Seminar in August. This is what I requested
for my birthday, and for the past week she had been playing phone
tag with them trying to get me registered.

I am so excited and can't wait.

quiltnut4ever 06-17-2013 09:12 AM

Is that the one that also has the quilting with it? I pre-registered for it in Oct. this yr.!

Quilty-Louise 06-17-2013 10:39 AM

From what I have read it will mostly be about the new quilting
software. But you still get the free stabilizer, designs, thread and
such.

I watched a webinar video about the quilting software, but I am
not interested in the quilting stuff as much as I am in the embroidery.

Quilty-Louise 06-17-2013 10:47 AM

I have been looking for at least ONE of my memory cards for weeks.
I have 4 cards (rewritable kind) and when I removing everything from
the sewing room to set up the new desk I misplaced the cards.

Since I have YET to finish in the fabric room and organize all that stuff
PLUS the stuff that came from the sewing room I know the cards are
in a box somewhere in there.

But darn it I can't embroider with my smaller machine because I HAVE
to use a card for my designs. So until I can find at least one of the cards
I am forced to using only the bigger machine since I can connect it to the
computer (netbook).

I have some towels, and bibs to get made plus finish a few mug rugs for
a friend.

Procrastination stinks (so does the lack of energy to clean).

LOL

Hope y'all are having a good day.

quiltnut4ever 06-18-2013 08:07 AM

Quilty-Louise I truly understand you. It took me weeks until I found my memory card and the stinker was right behind my machine, go figure:D

QuiltingNinaSue 06-18-2013 01:17 PM

Ok, I am sooooo new to doing this; just acquired a Bernette Decco 340 to do an outline embroidery of an outline of a guitar for a BIL on 120 squares he pre-cut. Only to discover I need to acquire the software from Bernina that's twice the price of the machine, to download my picture into the system...to say the least, I am not a happy camper at the moment.

Nor would she take it back even though its never been used here, for I was waiting to acquire the pattern first. Anyone have a solution? Thanks for the possibilities of some one having an answer.

SingerSewer 06-18-2013 04:43 PM

This is not for editing but it is good embroidery software and it is free...used to have to pay for it. Anyway you might be able to find a similar guitar outline and use this software to transfer it to your machine...not fancy but still good and it works well.

Normabeth 06-19-2013 06:18 AM

I have the Bernina 440EQ with the embroidery arm. The software that comes with this machine is not user friendly, it uses ART format, but once edited, it will stitch our a PES format. Any editing that I do, I use SewWhatPro

I attended one in May, it was fabulous! Sooo much information, and the " gift box" (not really a gift since you pay to go) is full of stabilizer, thread, designs, and a wonderful cd about stabilizer. Take a credit card because if they offer the same products at this show as when I went, you will wear the numbers off your card. The boxed stabilizers are at a tremendous price. And the software is fantastic. All the updates are free! And no dongle as with other software. I had such a good time. Go and have fun, congratulation!

quiltnut4ever 06-19-2013 07:28 AM

Bneighbor thanks for the info! I can't wait myself to go in Oct. I'm going to put my time in early so I can go on a Friday since this year is only thurs. and fri.

Quilty-Louise 06-20-2013 04:25 AM

I already have the Floriani Embroidery Suite Pro digitizing software
to which I STILL have not learned how to use. I have TRIED to watch
the webinar videos but can't seem to sit still for that long enough. Guess
it is because I need to set up my laptop close to my computer and run
the webinars on one while following along with the software on the
other.

Right now i have no interest in the quilting software.

Quilty-Louise 06-20-2013 04:27 AM

I got an email yesterday from Dollar Stitch they are offering
annual membership for $20.

Not sure if it is a special if you are on their mailing list or not.
Will try to find out more info on that.

Forgot to mention that this is a PES specific website.

I have a Pfaff 2144 which I have enjoyed for years. I am continually being challenged and learning new things so that's the most important thing. I have a huge collection (Can you say a bazillion?) of free and purchased embroidery designs. I want to know if there is a way of storing and organizing them so that a picture of the stitch out is visible. I waste so much time shuffling through my designs, clicking on the choice and then waiting for it to come up in my 3D software. What do you do to see what each design in your collection actually is? Thank you for giving me your help and ideas.

Krystyna 06-21-2013 03:44 AM

Good morning! http://emblibrary.com has adorable bluebird squares, borders and a corner for free through June 23rd!

But hoping to get more into it, with my new Anita Goodesign software. Now I just need my machine to work properly. It's at the shop......AGAIN:rolleyes:!!!!

I hope your Topaz 30 won't be gone long. I have had mine for about 5 years. Love it and I am always learning. Good luck with yours.

quiltnut4ever 06-21-2013 02:42 PM

Krystyna I got the freebie designs from emblibrary and they are so cute! I printed the color sheets at work and now I'm going to put them on my usb flash drive. LAQUITA, congratulations on your new machine! I'm sure you will love it and many of us here will help with whatever questions you have! Question? I bought Floriani thread a few weeks ago but I didn't know about the special. Is this something that the local lqs would promote or is it their website? Let us know!

bigredharley 06-21-2013 05:29 PM

I have the Brother PE500, and got the PED Basic with the embroidery card which my machine takes. Now I'm looking for additional cards - anyone know where they sell them separately? Went to sewing machine store and they quoted me $200 for it. Crazy.

sewnsewer2 06-21-2013 05:32 PM

Try ebay, you might find some there.

Quilty-Louise 06-21-2013 05:50 PM

I bought 2 extra cards from AllBrands a couple years ago.

Quilt nut: here is the web site, it's a Christmas in June special ...http://richlandsewing.florianiembroi...ducts/*/*/7620. It's the 30 spools special about 1/4 way down the page. Since its.a. Floriani special I'd think that anyone that sells this thread should honor it. :)
HTH.

MarnieH 06-21-2013 09:48 PM

I have a Husqvarna Topaz 30. I was hoping to find a group on this forum for Embroidery Quilters. I've yet to do one, but now that I have the Anita Good design block of the month program, I do want to start.....soon. Anyone know of a group on this forum? I new of of yesterday. :o

MarnieH 06-21-2013 09:51 PM

Sophie - Had nothing but trouble with mine from day one. Thinking of trading it for a Pfaff. The bottom thread gets caught on my scissors, every 4-6 cuts. As scissors don't retract for some reason ...every time. Anyways, I'm hoping that I can trust it enough after the next shop visit to get back into embroidery....
Otherwise, I'll be posting it for sale. Mine is only 3 yrs. old this month. AND I've only used it 1/2 that time because I leave it here when I go south for the winter.

snipforfun 06-21-2013 10:09 PM

I heard through the emb. grapevine that cards are becoming dinosaurs and will no longer be available in the near future! Is this possible? I have a friend that is buying an Esante thinking shevwill buy cards. The machine only takes cards or direct from computer to machine. No flash drive capability. Personally, i love the flash drives.

quiltnut4ever 06-22-2013 08:52 AM

Laquita, thank you for the info I will definitely check into it. Snipforfun some machines still use the cards and there are still blank memory cards that can be used to transfer designs from the computer to the card but you'll need the software to do this (depending on the machine). My Babylock Spirit takes only the usb however I have the Palette 1.7 in when I connect into the machine it will read my memory cards that I've had in the past with other Babylock memory card only machines. For a moment there I thought I'd lost out on using the memory cards on my new machine but it does read them!
