well I went to florinani thing and did learn some good stuff. So thought I would try it out and it did work nice. Used a fusible cut away did not hoop the t shirt in the hoop used the sticky stabalizer and then used a topper. Like I said it did work nice. So thought I would experiment just used a tear away hooped the shirt floated the tear away under the hoop did use a topper. Well it did not work out very well the t shirt shifted the thread got all bunched up put a hole in the shirt
so I moved it to another spot. It did work but not well. It shirfted again but this time I stopped before it bunched up, so no hole but design is not the best. |

Newbee3, thanks for posting your experience. I've been a little skeptical about floating one below the hoop. I recall they said you should use the positioning tacking first. My machine doesn't do that as far as I know (PE770) so I'm thinking you need to affix it some other way.

Just happened on this blog with amazing machine embroidery information. This is the link and you will have to work backward by going to the older posts...sorry I am far from computer savvy.

Thanks so much. Something to watch later on today!

Floating it below is very easy, you can either just float it as stated or you can use straight pins to pin it where it won't be stitched or you can use a spray adhesive. Floriani makes a really good mesh for doing t-shirts, its so soft on the skin so it won't irratate you. I've done tshirts but I do put them in the hoop or pin them to the top at the very least; you just have to be careful and not stretch them. Also becareful when using a high stitch density design because that can cause problems. I always use the layer on the bottom (cutaway) and then one on the top (WS) which really helps hold the stitches on top of the fabric. For all of you using Floriani's stabilizers, you save the label and when you have I think its ten you can go to their website and redeam them for freebees. I take the label off and then store it in the roll of stabilizer. This saves your purchase code plus another reminder of what kind of stabilizer you have .

Romanojg, such wonderful ideas that I plan on using. Especially the basting stitch which I know I have but need to look for it on my machine.

Thought I'd share what I made for my boyfriend. He's a great griller and we live behind a freshwater canal so every time he grills he looks at that canal and that's why his apron says it all!

Not sure if this has been asked because there are so many pages to read...but does anyone have the 5d embroidery software? I am thinking of purchasing it but can find no reviews and I do not know if it will do all I want for that kind of $
Thanks for your help Becky |

Thank you so much for your help, I had no idea the 6d was coming out.I will have to go and talk with my dealer!QUOTE=romanojg;6155186]I do and love it but I'd wait for a month or two because 6D is getting ready to come out. There are different levels or vesions of the 5D so the cost depends on what you get. I got mine when a Viking demonstrator came to the dealers store to show us it and we got a great deal on it. Hoping that happens for 6D. I have the pro plus, it does digitizing, editing and changeing designs, cross stitch, portraits, plus lots more. If you go to Vikings website you can see what each different version has to offer. Not sure how much 6D has changed.[/QUOTE]

Just FYI, Viking has a wonderful offer right now. If you purchase 5D, you get it at 30% off PLUS you get 6D for free when it comes out! So two for the price of less than one. Also, they have special zero interest financing. So it actually is a wonderful time to purchase.

I just found you guys. Oooh, happy, happy, happy! I have a brother PE770. I have only attempted a few single hooping images. (I will take the time to catch up and read all 194 pages - but not right now). Can somebody actually tell me where I can find out how to align things better? How ever do they do those continuous borders and have them come out perfectly? I'll keep watching. :-)
|
Thank you for sharing this info I will have to call my dealer and find out if they are offering the same deal!

Found this from Nancy Zieman on how to do the continuous hoop along with several other tidbits of machine embroidery information.

On the Brother machines, what model has the largest hoop size? I'm now thinking, I would like to be sure I have one that can do a decent job of filling the space inside a 12" block for my quilts, so maybe one that has a hoope of about 8x8? Do they make those or am I getting into an expensive machine to do that?
Diane I love my Quattro, the ease of use and great quality stitching. http://www.brother-usa.com/homesewin...a#.UdS-q_l--M8 Here is a link to the Brother site with more information about their machines. |

I started into the machine embroidery hole in 1997 when my husband gave me a Janome MC9000 as a 30th Wedding anniversary gift. On our 35th anniversary he upgraded it to a Janome MC10000 for me. I still have this machine but have since added a Brother PR620 multi needle and the Brother Quattro 6000D. I love all three machine and have not had any problems or issues with them but I do have them serviced regularly.
Machine embroidery can be a very expensive hole to be in. The machine is only the beginning, then comes embroidery thread, bobbin fill, stabalizers, designs, upgrades for the machines, extra bobbins and machine accessories. Every colour thread is needed, the variety of stabalizers for each and every project, designs ( there are so many wonderful digitizers out there) and the list just grows. I just love this hobby so much and gain so much pleasure and enjoyment from it. I have embroidered on all manner of things from clothing, craft, quilts and quilting, bags and home décor. I embroider a lot of gifts for family and friends. This year I embroidered baby wraps, towels, sheets, bibs, baby blankets for my daughters first child and my 5th grandchild. At present I am putting embroidered coat hangers together. The designs are from Artistic designs which are on the Oregon Patchworks site. I have made all of her sets of coat hangers and they are beautiful designs that stitch very well. I do not add the piping as shown on the site. I mainly use cotton fabric or dress taffeta for the hangers. http://www.oregonpatchworks.com/item...426&pid=139585 I also make Crazy patch padded hangers and embellish them with the fancy stitches from the machine and then embroider small embroidery design on them. See attached Pics. |
I only use pre wound bobbins on my Brother multi needle machine and wouldn't use anything else. I do wind the bobbins with bobbin fill for my Quattro and Janome MC1000

I also forgot to add the cost of embroidery software, that too can run in to lots of dollars. I have both Janome and Brother software as well as the Buzz Tools programs which I have found invaluable, especially Buzz Explore, buzz Edit and buzz size. I recently attended a Brian Bailee demonstration and bought his Embrilliance software Aussie Edition which I am currently learning to use. I find the Buzz Tools programs very user friendly.

broken hoop
I am so bummed! My SQ hoop has broken. It's not a stripped thread on the screw. The little hex nut inside the plastic is spinning around. So I cannot tighten the hoop on the fabric. I tried super gluing the hex nut inside the plastic, but it breaks free after tightening the screw.
So now I am in search of an SQ hoop for a Janome 11000se. A new hoop costs $100 at the dealer's shop. Does anyone have one they want to sell? I am feeling so sorry for myself! Boo hoo! |
Oh my!! Betty those are GORGEOUS!!!
|
Dear Jane, may I ask where did you find the information about the 5D 30% off and free 6D? I went to the web site and didn't see anything listed there, but I am still hopeful.
|
Betty J those are just gorgeous! I'm a romantic and love the pink colors and the crazy quilt hanger as well but they are ALL beautiful!

Mardilee, I just had something similar happen. A screw fell out and the hex nut wouldn't tighten. I realized I was missing the washer. If you have another hoop with many screws, see if you can use one of those in place of the missing one.

This link explains the 0% financing option: http://www.vikingsewinggallery.com/s...nd-promotions/ I received an e-mail from Viking regarding the 30% off with free 6D. If you call your Viking store they will expalin it over the phone most likely. I don't know the expiration date as I tossed the e-mail after I purchased the software. Good luck! Kimberly |
Betty J - your hangers are absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
thank you for sharing them. |
Betty J - I looked at the website where you purchased the designs. Question for you:
Do they give easy directions on how to assemble the hangers? Where do you purchase the hangers? Do you use batting or stuffing to fill them out? Can you adapt the pattern to make a bigger hanger? I'm thinking for a bridal gown? |
I have a Brother Disney machine that I need to get out and try again. I bought it a few years ago, and the only time I had it out was to take it to a class and try to learn how to use it.

First time to embroider on Janome Horizon 12000
1 Attachment(s)
Well, as I posted previously, yesterday was my birthday and I purchased a Janome Horizon 12000 to learn how to machine embroider and quilt. Last night stayed up late and practiced with the decorative stitches while today I practiced with the embroidery functions. Learned how to down load JEF files and import them into the Janome Link software via computer and USB device.
here are my very first two embroidery samples. I have so much to learn! |
