Thanks Plumtree for FB Info. I need to get back into Machine Embroidery

Like your quilt Snooze2978

letawellman 10-03-2016 06:25 PM

Snooze2978/Suz in Iowa, I have a Viking Designer 1 also. I use it for both embroidery and my piecing work. Yes, it IS a rather old machine, and the hoop size is a bit limited, but I really do enjoy it. Mine is so old it has the floppy disk to upload designs!!

Love your pics, too!!!

gramquilter2 10-04-2016 12:21 PM

Great embroidery projects Snooze2978.

Quite a few people have asked why there cannot be a separate heading for embroidery. It seems the moderator or the person who runs this forum wishes not to add this because it is not "quilting" orienting. Yet, there are other areas that have nothing to do with quilting. It seems as if embroidery is not considered important enough. Like I said, it has been requested many times, but poo poo'd.

Crqltr 10-04-2016 03:11 PM

Love the welcome quilt!

So true......when I couldn,t find this thread and I posted my question about the spliting embroidery...they removed my post and sent it to the chitchat section......I did answer them on a private message that many of us are combining embroidery with quilting.....I had made so many quilting with embroidery in them.......
........lets hope they will realize how important this thread is......

sushi 10-04-2016 06:54 PM

Gosh, I hope so, too!

Quilty-Louise 10-05-2016 03:56 PM

I have sent numerous (at least 4+) requests to have a
sticky thread for machine embroidery, like they have for
the vintage machines.

I was told by the head honcho here that no it would not
be happening. That is was a disservice to everyone to have
us posting all under this one thread.

I was hoping they would let us have a separate Quilting /Machine Embroidery Thread so we could help each other when making our quilts. I make baby quilts using my embroidery blocks. Here are two baby quilts I'm working right know some of my UFO's.

juanitabean, love your embroidered baby quilts

lvmybskt 10-06-2016 03:49 PM

I would love some help with my embroidery. I bought a Bernina 790 about 3 months ago and haven't even opened the embroidery box yet. I feel really overwhelmed by all my machine can do. I have quilted 5 toddler sized quilts on it and love that its so quick. The closet store to me is an hour and it really isn't convenient to drive that far. Plus my machine weights a ton and I don't think I could get it down the stairs and then into the car to take with me to classes. Wish there was someone nearby with one.

lvmybskt, several years ago I bought a Bernina 635 with the embroidery attachment, and I've done almost nothing with it. I'm ashamed, but it is a bit overwhelming. Maybe you and I can chat directly and encourage each other? Any other Bernini owner would be welcome to join, too.

JaunitaBean your quilts are beautiful!!! So happy to see more posts here!!!

I have been given a baby lock Intrigue embroidery/sewing machine. It seems very clean, hardly used, all/most parts and accessories, but no machine manual. I've tried every place online I can think of, but no one seems to have the Intrigue (Model 0.7A). I'm guessing it was a model some years ago, notwithstanding that it looks like new.

From a two-page flier I did manage to find online, it appears to have an automatic threading contraption which, if it's anything like my serger, is wonderful, wonderful! I'm almost afraid to plug it in for fear of jamming it up by pushing the wrong button or something.

DOES ANYONE HAVE OR HAS USED THIS MACHINE? Any ideas on getting a manual? If you have one, I'd be happy to pay to have it scanned, PDF'd and sent to me.

Thanks, dear ones. I've seen you come through so many times for others and am hoping you can do it again this time.

P.S. I did shoot an email to Baby Lock, but no response yet.

Blessings!

Look here https://www.manualslib.com/b/baby+lock+imagine.html this machine is very similar...maybe the instructions will work for you. Check out the "up, "down models"--espire, encore, jewel. I have an EllageoESg (about 2000 0r 2001) w/o manual, but my Brother ULT2003 manual works like it was meant for the Babylock. Very little info is not the same. Hope this gives you a starting point. Keep cking www.manualslib.com

gramquilter2 10-07-2016 06:13 AM

ivmybsk, Bernina has a good site and you can get some help there. I have a Bernina 200E and a 440 both quite a bit older than the one you have but I love them both and use them all the time. One thing my dealer told me is you don't need classes to learn how to use it just get in there and use it. I was angry at the time but that is what I did and have used it so often that when my machine was 2 the dealer that was doing the annual check told me there were more embroidery miles on it then any other 200 US machine.

Jo Belmont 10-07-2016 10:10 AM

Thanks for suggestions. I'll give those a try as well. Finally heard from Baby Lock. They advised that their dealers have access to the manuals and that all manuals are available through those dealers. (???) I'll give our local a try as well. Thanks again.

Sushi...I am not Bernini owner, only a modest Janome 350e but I think we should keep this thread alive....Actually a friend of mine in VA that does have few Bernina. ( one is the 440 bernina ) was helping me with my first steps in embroidery........after all its all about thread, tension, needle color and fun....only the formats are different...and I wish I could convert images ....easily....I hear that there is someone in here that her machine does it...(. I believe its some singer machine ) since I am limited to the JEF format....

JuanitaBean 10-11-2016 03:55 PM

I am just going through all the stuff in here from the beginning and OMG...Who is the person that decided that Embroidery machines have nothing to do with quilting ???????? And really there are so many gorgeous quilting in here........

goldsberry921 10-11-2016 05:40 PM

I have a Brother SE425. It was a Christmas gift to myself. I've used it for a few occassions to embroider, but still learning in progress when I have time.

Ania it was an anniversary gift:) 30 yrs!! I do love it I had a Brother quilter/sewing machine for years and loved it. I got a great deal on this one at a AQS quilt show. My local dealer is hour and half away. Makes for a long day if I go there for a class. the dealer I bought it from is 2 hrs away. Will take me a while to learn all it can do. Thought I would play with it during the winter more than summer:) Goats on farm keep me pretty busy:)

i have no dealer at all.....or three hours drive from the Janome dealer....Brother dealer is no closer and they don,t carry the expensive machines in here (I am on a cactus mountain in mexico...very isolated from other quilters)
....I had found my best friend quilter here in this site years ago...and she has been guiding me and teaching me a lot......she also sent me internet sites and links that were very helpful...and she does,t even own a Janome...she has an Eco Bernini among other machines....irs similar to my Janome350....
I had even learnt in here how to enlarge a quilt......and I am so glad I did it since I made it for my mom (I posted it then..and people loved it..with pink roses ) and she had passed away and my beds are higher.....Now its in use again.......I never though it is possible ( to actually enlarge a quilt after its done....)
my point is that this is the right place to be and to ask questions.....people in here are usually very friendly and willing to help.......I stop posting pics since I switched to Mac...
the machine you have is awesome....it used to be my dream....I am very glad you have it..since like me, being far away from the quilters civilization....a good machine is a must.... ENJOY for many years to come and don,t stop posting...............Give my regards to the goats......

Cari-in-Oly 10-12-2016 10:33 AM

Ania I'm glad you like your Janome. I have 3 Janomes and a Brother. I started with a Janome 200e, a few months later I got a great deal on a used 350e, then I received as a gift an older Brother PE200, then last year I bought the new Janome 500e. I really love all of them, if I had to choose just one it would be hard to do.

Thank you for replying.....I have a question for you bout the Janome350e....The build in designs are not coming out too great...(loops and etc....) I know its not the machine since it works fine on Emblimbrery site ( they are really great ) and I did try to play with the tension and clean the machine and use new needle.....it happens only with the build it designs.... ,,,the dealers are not an option because of the distance....
i am really trying to figure out how to post a pic from the mac.....So I would be able to show you what I am working on.....its a quilted small bag and I decided to add the embroidery.....
...
another question is , did you ever try to split a design with this machine??? I am trying to figure that out....
....
You are lucky to have these three machines..!!!! the more toys, the better...LOL

quiltingcandy 10-12-2016 11:07 AM

When I bought my Viking sewing/embroidery machine it was truly an impulse buy. I bought it from a dealer, it was the floor model, so the price was very good. They did teach me to use the basic machine, how to down load the CD's onto my computer, then onto the thumb drive. But it wasn't until I bought the more advanced embroidery program for Viking/Husqvarna did I really start to enjoy my machine. A good friend of mine is fearless when it comes to sewing and crafting, so the two of us spent hours practicing and playing with the machine. We had so much fun - and frustration - she ended up buying her own machine ( a Brother PE770 so we could access Disney designs). My family said listening to us in the sewing room was hilarious. It's been a couple years and I still enjoy watching the it sew.
For all of you that are nervous about using the embroidery machines I wish i could come to your house and help. I am fairly good at reading the manuals now - but it can be so much fun just trying new things and when it is successful sharing in the fun. Mastering a machine can be so much fun.

I have found the importance of using the right stabilizer and the right fabric with the right design. I was trying to sew a design on a baby's onsie and it was driving me crazy, so after checking on the various websites, discovered the adhesive stabilizer which kept the fabric from stretching. A lot is trial and error - kind of like learning to do FMQ.

I just saw this thread, I have a Brother Dream Machine, it is still smarter than I am....

you are very lucky to have it....I can only dream about it....
can you post something that you have done on it..some pic ...?
or what is it that you like the most about this machine???

Hi quiltcandy
And I though that I am the only crazy fanatic when it comes to mastering machines.....LOL
I am so happy you posted .... you had encouraged me to continue searching.....
I wonder how to split the designs on my Janome350e and not sure if its even possible.....because of the hoops involved in this process....
I wonder if to get the Giga Mega hoop...some people states its a waste of money and other seems to be happy with it.....and so on and so on.....there is always something more we can learn....(I am also learning new stuff on my embrilliance .....I was so very intimidated at first.....now, I love it...and it can split designs easily....
When you master something it gives you so much more freedom.....
......
I also know the Hugsvania are great machines (no dealer around me at all)...and I did meet someone that had bough the Brother PE770 and kept it on a shelf for few years...till I almost forced her to start using it...... she is a seam master and first thing she did on it was her business labels..... LOL.......
......never give up...
Happy quilting and embroidery.......
