Thanks Ania, I haven't gotten it yet but I plan to when I have the time to sit and play with it. I was also going to tell you that I have a magnetic hoop for my 350e but I haven't used it yet. I'm going to be staying with my DD for a few weeks soon and I plan on bringing my 350e with me because the 500e is just too big and I plan on bringing the magnetic hoop and the clothsetter with me as I'll be embroidering some things I haven't done before so I think these things will help.

Cari....I will be waiting to hear about your trip with the magnetic hoop....and of course wishing you a great time with DD.....Good luck ..

I just bought the Destiny II. New to embroidery, so I have a lot to learn. Thank you for this group. Will be following. I know I will have lots of questions.

Hi all, just wanted to show you all the photo I had digitized by someone on Etsy. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Don't usually like looking at pictures of myself, but want to give one to each of our children at Christmas. Husband will make frames. So they'll have something made by both of us!
Thanks for looking! |
Very cool!!!
|
Mommessy, this is owesome......I am very impressed !!! What a unique gift..they will cherrish it fir generation....
........I know that degitizing from a picture is difficult......Which kind of a digi program did you use ??? Which machine???? Your pic has inspired me........ ...... Excellent job !!!!!!! THanks for sharing it.... |
Mommessy that is just beautiful! I love photo stitch designs.
Ania, I don't know which ones do it but some of the software will do photo stitch digitizing. I'm guessing here but I think the more advanced programs do it. Advanced Embroidery has a lot of photo stitch designs on their site. Last year I bought the set of Native American Chiefs and stitched them out on cream Irish linen. They stitched out beautifully. Cari, ...Thanks.....I know that embrilliance has this ability to do it....as other programs....but only in the full version of the program....I still don,t nave a full version and don,t know if I will get it in the future.......In other words....I am still too new to digitizing all together ( mermaid here is my strongest support so far).... What I am trying to say is that I would like to learn to make more complicated things farthen on.....Right now...just gathering the information and reading and learning about the experience of the girls that actually are doing it...( its kind of encouragment...and thats also why this board is so wonderful...I have learnt a lot in this place......Have fun all |

Digitized by Imilova Creations on Etsy. She's from Russia. $6.75 per photo. She's a dream to work with. I had my design ready to embroider in 25 hours.

The snowman is adorable!
Here's my latest project with my embroidery machine. No, it's not quilting, but my next project will be. These are organza poinsettias that I made for DD's table décor and used the smallest design for napkin rings (just hot-glued the poinsettias to a grosgrain ribbon circle. |
well consider the price of floriani it should have free upgrades
|
Your poinsettias are exquisite, DJ! The organza makes a perfect background.
|
DJ... they are awesome....!!!! What a great idea.... And they came out so nice.... Gorgeous looking..I love them.........
|
DJ, they are beautiful. may consider doing that myself.
|
Thank you ladies! The poinsettias are easy to do. I combined several blossoms in each hooping. I'm making more for myself and for some friends.
|
Love the poinsettias they are beautiful!!!
|
Those poinsettias are awesome! Right now I'm embroidering names on the cuff of 22 stockings. Then I'll go back and do a design on the front of each one that suits each person. My 5 yr old GD wants a skeleton nutcracker on hers lol. Then doing some embroidery and applique on 9 onesies and I'm finished with Christmas gifts.

It looks like Santa might bring me a Brother® LB-6800THRD for making simple quilt labels. I realize it has a smaller hoop and I do have a very good DSM so I do not need it for regular sewing. Will I soon regret not holding out for a Brother PE770 Embroidery Machine or something similar with a larger hoop? The Brother LB-6800THRD is from Costco and it has a good deal right now for $339 while the Brother PE770 is almost double the cost. I would definitely have to wait to get the more expensive one. I am looking to make mostly labels for my quilt. I guess I wonder if I will soon regret getting the machine with the smaller hoop. Will I want to do a lot more embroidery once I have a machine and then feel limited?
|
That's a question only you can answer. Some people are very happy with a 4x4 hoop and never feel the need to go bigger, but I think most machine embroiderers who start small quickly outgrow the small machine. I started with a Janome 200e with a 5.5" square as its largest hoop( I did my first quilt labels on it-they came out beautiful) and it was only 2 months before I bought another janome(350e) with a 5x7 hoop. That lasted me two years until the 500e came out with the 8x11" hoop. I also have 2 Brother machines that use a 4x4 hoop but those were bought specifically for the built in designs.
All that being said, I find that I rarely use the largest hoops. I do so much embroidery for the little ones and babies in the family that the 2", 3", and 4" hoops get the most use. But it's nice to have the bigger hoops when I need them. oh, and another thing - the Brother PE770 was on an Amazon flash sale a week or so ago for almost what that Costco machine is selling for. I'd watch Amazon every day from now til after Christmas because prices change daily and there's another Brother machine that is the twin to the 770 that may go on sale. It's the Designio 820. It comes with 3 hoops and enough thread and stabilizers so you can start embroidering right out of the box. It's every bit the work horse machine as the 770. Cari |

Cari....thanks for posting.....its a clear description of what an avarage embroider needs....LOL...I have the Janome350e
And was wondering if to get the 500.... Thanks for posting.... |
What Cari said..I use my 4x4 more than my 5x7...but today I pulled out my largest hoop- 6.25 X11 I think..making handle covers for my fridge/ freezer doors. My hubby has a bad habit of not realizing he has banana (eats them all the time!) on his fingers and it dries a mess. The covers will be washable . Will post pix when finished..about .75% finished.

I have the Brother LB 6800PRW and I love it. Mine came with the rolling case, which is very nice cuz I sometimes sew in my dining room instead of my sewing rooms downstairs (No Hallmark channel on tv down there. And I am addicted to the Christmas season on Hallmark.) I can store the machine away and move it out of the way when company comes. Amazon also carries this machine and rolling case for a bit more than the Costco cost, but does not have the extra thread which is totally a great package deal. The small 4x4 hoop is big enough to sew labels, because you can get a hoop for the machine that allows you to take your work out of the machine and move it up or down to make a bigger embroidered pattern. Works great. Having the sewing and embroidery machine, I can use it as a backup when my other machine is being serviced or I have another project going on and I dont want to change any thread or settings. And yes, you may want to do more embroidery. And it can be done with this machine.

I just finished the handle covers for my fridge. I saw on another site that someone made similar and used MR and MRS Clause. I had snow people appliqués/patches and this is what I came up with. I used Velcro to wrap them....I'm pleased.

I have a Janome 1100SE upgrade with the Accu fill. It have not trod hat part out yet. It embroidery s beautifully. And it fits in a a Tuttuo bag should I ever need/want t take it smewhere. All my quilting friends are purchasing the Janome 500E. It's base is huge and they ar having a difficult time finding bags to tramsporrt it in. It's too big with the arm on for a Tutto bag. They all love it. I'd like to have it simply b/c it's a lighter machine, and has one bigger hoop than mine doesn't. It mi e actually has more built in designs /. Fonts than the 500e. Mine is a combo machine. However I only use it for embroidering. my workhorse is a Janme 6600. I LOVE this machine for a eye day piecing.
|
LaQuita I just found out yesterday that there is a case being made for the 500E but it's back ordered everywhere, there's been so many machines sold that the demand is huge for the case and the company can't make them fast enough.
