Looking for advice about downloading purchased designs. Is there a better way to do this? Currently I down load the zipped file. Then extract it to a file or CD. This usually contains 9 different files for different embroidery machines. I only want the version for my machine. Right now I go to each down load and delete the versions I do not need this is very time consuming. Any one have a better way to do this task??? Also sometimes there are files inside files. How do you deal with these???

If you buy any designs from Embroidery Library they send the designs in whatever format your machine uses. You can download them in a zip file or email zipped or unzipped unless it's a big design with several parts. I don't know any good way to DL files from other places. I guess they do that because it's easier for them or maybe because some people have machines that use different formats any they would only have to buy the design once.

Thank you MaggieLou, hoping someone might have an answer to this problem!!!

My daughter in law has a Janome 1001 and makes memory bears so it is very handy for the printing required for these. Today she has tried to do something which needs centering but cannot get it to work. When the print comes on screen it is fine but once it starts to print into hoop it starts somewhere else which means she has to work with the arrows each time. does anyone know if there is a major problem with machine or can it be fixed. Many thanks

I have a Bernina 880 that I don't know how to use. I can do some basic sewing on it, but have not yet learned the embroidery part. It's pretty intimidating! Retaking the sewing classes on how to use the machine, but school will be back in session for the embroidery classes. In time!

newjeepgreen I'm a bit confused, because embroidery machines have nothing to do with printing, they sew embroidery designs. So I gather both of you are new to this hobby and will assume you are not talking about a printer.
Firstly does your dil have the machine in 'embroidery mode'? Does she have the centre 'spot' of the fabric beneath the needle? - if not, then she will have to use the arrow keys. Designs usually are centered, so when you put a design on the screen the needle should be in the center of your hoop and fabric - this should be the center of the design also. Not many designs will begin stitching in the center, but at the beginning of each colour section. The manual should explain, but I know we often have questions which they don't. Also make sure the hoop you use is not too small for the chosen design Hope I have helped, as I am not familiar with this particular machine. Feel free to pm me privately if I can help further. |
Is it just one emb design that does this (not centered), or do all the designs open off center? If that is the case, the machine may need be re-calibrated. Look in your manual for instructions--it is very simple. If it is just the one design that is off center and you do not have the software to allow re-saving to correct position, maybe a friend will do that for you. If I were next door, I would!
I had a strange problem yesterday with a digi'd patch for son. It showed on my 3 programs, did draw stitch 3 times--everything there..count, colors, size, etc. But when I put it on card or on floppy and took to machine, the image was not there. Finally I converted to another format (Hus) and then back to Pes. Solved my problem. Just an FYI in event someone experiences the same. It is miraculous! |

There are a couple of options for your designs. If using Windows, press the ctrl key and then hi-lite the ones to delete. Hit delete and all the selected files are gone. Easy & fast. Just be sure the desired format is NOT selected when you hit delete. Second option that I like better. Create a new folder with design name. Find the desired format and do a "copy/paste function into the NEW Folder. Some people call this method "drag/drop also. Be sure to also copy/paste the tutorial if available. You can move this file into alpha order if you want or put under design categories. If you are starting out with designs, now is the time to organize them into specific files. Then you can delete the entire zip file and the original file. Have fun! |
I recently traded in my Bernina 710 and got a Bernina 765, which does embroidery. I am taking a class at the shop where I bought it next month on using the embroidery module and I can't wait. I have already taken the first class, which was using the sewing functions. I am a fairly experienced quilter, but really want to add embroidery to my quilts. Does anyone else have this machine?

Hi Gay, Thank you for reply I am stupid it is not printing but text she does. Sometimes she does little poems and verses and has to use arrow keys to get it to line up properly, I rang one of the machine shops and he said to try re calabrating it but it didnt work. Dont know what problem is its a bit fiddly having to re align every time. I should say what comes up on the screen as being in center does not center when she starts the machine it is about 1/2" off.

I made these hanging dishtowels for Christmas. I'm so glad I started in June making these because I was able to take my time and still get them done well before the holidays.

I love your dishtowels, IrishgalfromNJ. Ok if I "steal" your concept?

Those towels are beautiful!

I have a janome 15000 that does a wonderful job of em. Going to be making a quilt for my grandsons school. They're going to raffle it off. Making the school name with a big red cardinal on it. Gray, black, red

I have a Brother NQ3500D. I have a 4x4, 5x7 and 6x10 hoop. It's a very nice machine.

Newjeepgreen, just a quick thought here about your problem. I have a janome my 10001 too. And I could be wrong. You center your project on the hoop, with the center lines. And I am thinking of some of mine,When you start the stitches it will jump to the starting stitch,or point. Not always the center of the cross point, on hoop, You can change the start point in digitizer.
|
I think most machines have a button for 'start point' or 'center'.

Thread stand

I have recently purchased this thread stand on amazon, my question is what are these small items that came with it and how are they used? No instructions in Assembly manual. Hoping some one here knows something as I am completely in the dark. Thanks in advance. Maggie

In looking at the picture for this item in Amazon it looks like the small items go on the top tier to then feed the thread individually to the machine
|
was wondering when you quilt with your embroidery machine through to the backing how do you hide the messy knots
|
emb machines do not knot, it will leave a short strand of thread. it can be cut off carefully

I am new to this site and have spent many hours this weekend reading through this embroidery thread. Still have a long ways to go! I have been embroidering about a year and a half. I have a Bernina 560. I also do quite a bit of piecing and quilting using the same machine. I am always looking for new ideas and projects.
|
Welcome to the site, Bbet. I love to combine embroidery and quilting. There is so much info here, and everyone is great about sharing.
|
Welcome Bbet! I have a Bernina 635 with the embroidery module, and I struggle with it. Perhaps you and I can help each other.

I made these ornaments for Christmas gifts. The round ornaments are from Embroidery Library. The others are from a CD called Merry and Bright. There are 31 ornaments on the CD and have a gift pocket on the back. Both are ITH projects and very easy.

Curved Applique Scissors
Can anyone recommend a good brand? I usually buy Kai scissors, but they don't make a curved scissor. I was looking at the Havel's..they seem to have good reviews. I need them sharp, sharp, sharp!!! I have bitten the bullet and started the "affairs of the Heart" machine applique blocks. They are coming along...but a better pair of scissors would make me happy! Thanks, Donna

I personally like Havel's. Both the little ones and the larger ones with the double curve.
Nita in WI hoping my house in FL doesn't blow away |
I have a cheap pair of squeezers I bought from Walmart years ago that I use for trimming applique. I have arthritis in my hands and have a hard time with small scissors. I have several pairs of squeezers I've bought from different places over the years and none are as sharp or cut as well as my original pair. I use these for everything and I tend to throw a hissy fit when I can't find them lol.

I use the scissors that are not buried under fabric. Usually my Gingher embroidery scissors.

I am slowing making friends with my new embroidery machine. Brought home a Babylock Destiny a few months ago and am figured out how to do some of the fancy stitching on my crazy quilt. Have not been brave enough to try embroidery with it yet.

Sophie2, love your ornaments.
