I started with the Brother SE400 and quickly upgraded to the Brother PRS100 single needle and love it. I made a Zelda themed quilt for my son and a Paper Mario themed quilt for my daughter.

I have owned the PRS100 for a little over a year. Any problems I have had have been user error :)
For me, I like having a separate embroidery machine. While my embroidery machine is stitching out the design I can work on something else as I usually have two projects going at the same time.

Hi Terri19 & Welcome!

Love your quilts. Great idea to have two machines. Where did you find the design (treasure chest?) in last row of blue quilt? I'm looking for one for a emb project.

Hello,

Sorry this reply is late, I just realized that someone had commented on my post :) Unfortunately the file is not working well for that design on my new software (I recently replaced what I originally used). If you like the one below, what format does your machine use? I will send a file to you. I only ask you use it for personal use only and stitch it out on scrap first to make sure it is ok. I do the digitizing myself :)

Those quilts are lovely! I have recently started using the monster snaphoops for embroidering on my quilts - and will definitely use them for everything I can going forward. They are wonderful. I just did some quilting design in 45 charm squares of a quilt and cannot imagine doing that with a regular hoop. Will make me more prone to make quilts now.

Thanks for the compliment. I didn't pay any attention to how long the butterflies took to stitch, sorry. I do have my machine running slower than it could to help avoid fraying thread, and I try to remember to always use Sewer's Aid on the thread spool.

That is for a Viking not a Janome.

Does anyone know where I could sell items that worked with a Janome 10000 machine. Designs, cloth setter, etc. Thanks

My name is Debra. I have a Janome 11000se. She is discontinued but she is my best friend. We are growing old together! I embroidery on her and she does a great job. Anyone need help on this machine I can try to be of assistance.

coffeecozy 04-26-2018 04:07 AM

I am sure that this has been covered before but I am not finding it now.
I have made a quilt label and ended up making it really large (5x8) to get the design I wanted on it and to get nicely stitched text.
So 2 questions - is that too big for a label? - what is the smallest machine embroidery font that you use on a label?

Cari-in-Oly 04-26-2018 07:05 AM

The biggest label I've made for a quilt was about 8x14. I made it for a friend who had a lot to say lol. I used 3 different sized fonts as per her wishes. The smallest fonts I've used on a quilt label I think were 1/4", I think I might have one that's smaller, I can't remember now. I've bought tiny fonts from a couple of places but the only one I can think of right now is 5 star Fonts.

How cute! I haven’t tried the applique designs yet. I’m still a beginner at this. Thanks for sharing..

LaurMac 05-06-2018 05:58 AM

I have a Singer Quantum XL6000 and have to use a cable to transfer designs so it's not ideal but love emblibrary.com and urbanthreads designs. I don't have design software and am about to buy Embird (recommended by Facebook group for this machine).

LaurMac 05-06-2018 06:18 AM

Love the photos - makes me want to get busy with mine!

DJ 05-06-2018 09:08 AM

JuanitaBean ~ Very cute!

JuanitaBean 05-06-2018 12:12 PM

You don't need software to do JuJu Designs. You just have to know how to down load them on to your Computer. Then in your Embroidery Machine.

JuanitaBean 05-06-2018 12:17 PM

LaurMac Just try it. It's fun.

Thanks DJ

JuanitaBean 05-06-2018 12:26 PM

Shri.a beginners can do Applique embroidery too. Just follow direction one step at a time

I've kept my embroidery machine pretty busy over the last week. I've made quite a few ornaments which I don't have pictures of yet, but I do have pictures of these in-the-hoop zip bags I've been making. The small zip case is a design I purchased from Five Star Fonts; and the larger ones arena design from Creative Kiwi Embroidery. They both sew up very nicely. I did add some of my own quilting to the larger ones.

Nice bags and I love the ornaments DJ. Beautiful

Cari-in-Oly 05-22-2018 04:37 PM

Nice work. I did 8 sets of three bags for Christmas gifts a few years ago, they're fun to make.

LaurMac, I have a Singer Xl5000! I love using it for gifts and things! If you like embroidery there are a couple groups on the internet you might like to join! One is Stitchnswap.com. They have swaps with certain themes! So much fun!

Rennie 08-06-2018 05:06 PM

Well, I attended the Quilting and Embroidery Expo in Raleigh last week, with the intent to try to find a charm pack for a specific project - and nothing else. However :D I came home with a Janome 500E Embroidery machine. It was a very good deal, I think. I absolutely love the way the hoops attach -- very easy, very secure, no "give". But the reason I bought it was the 11" space from machine body to the needle that will really help with embroidering on quilts - it feels soooooo roomy. It came with 4 hoops, but so far, I have only used the 5 X 5, as I am doing some small applique squares for a baby quilt. I will be going for a class on using it for the Edge to Edge Quilt Embroidery in a few weeks. My Brother 700 PE was a very good machine, but the small black and white screen made picking out my design difficult - and I have a lot of 6 X 10 designs from a previous situation.

Anyone else purchased a new machine lately?

Cari-in-Oly 08-06-2018 06:50 PM

I haven't bought a new one lately but I bought the 500e right after it came out and I love that machine. Did they tell you that there are 3 more hoops you can buy for it? The 11" hoop that comes with it is a quilting hoop, you'll love quilting with it. I've embroidered everything with my 500e and never had so much as a hiccup. I love that I can service it myself, and I especially love the on board editing capabilities. The only thing they didn't upgrade with this machine is the built in color palettes. They're the same as they've always been in previous machines.

quiltingcandy 08-06-2018 08:10 PM

I have been looking at machines but just can't make myself invest in another embroidery machine. The one I have is the Viking Designer Topaz 20 - it has been discontinued but I haven't had any trouble with it. It has a large hoop - the largest width is 8 inches and goes about 10in. long. I haven't tried quilting on it much - I need to do more practicing.

MaggieLou 08-07-2018 05:13 AM

Rennie, congrats on your new machine. I have a Brother PE770 to and upgraded to the Innovis NQ1400 for the same reason as you. The black and white pictures are the pits. It's hard to tell what design you want. Have fun with your new machine.

Rennie 08-15-2018 08:31 AM

Cari, they did advise that there is also a snap hoop now available for the 500E (I love my snaphoops) but it will be awhile before I can even think of doing that one, if I even do. Right now I am happy with the 4 hoops that came with it. So far, so good, and I know the Janome brand is great - my first machine was the Janome 9000, which I still have, still works and is over 20 years old.

Cari-in-Oly 08-15-2018 09:55 AM

No I didn't know there's a snap hoop for the 500e. I have a snap hoop for my 350e but I've never used it. I also have the clothsetters for my 350e and 200e, I think there's one for the 500e too but I don't have it. Since I'm usually doing something for one of the grands, I actually use the smaller hoops more than the bigger ones. I love the 2" hoop on my 200e.
