Since I am a newbie, I don't know for sure what is required when I want to have something quilted. Say if I want to take it to someone or have someone on this board do the quilting. Do I just have to have the top, batting and backing all pinned in place? Then when it is finished, I put the binding on? Thanks for all your help.

    don't pin the layers together.

aside from that most LAer will have a detailed list of how they want the quilt to be given to them and what you should provide along with it.

some LAer will attach the binding for you, for a fee, and you have to turn it over to the other side and stitch down.
