12" 9-patch block - not sure how to quilt
I have a quilt comprised of 12 12" 9 patch blocks. Each block is monochromatic in color. The sashing is approximately 3.5", the outside border is just about the same size. I plan to use this design in the sashing and the outside border:

I am not sure what to put in the 9 patch blocks. I don't want to detract from the blocks too much so I will quilt them in matching thread (white thread for the white sashing) but I do know that with such a large block it should be filled with quilting. I am thinking either:

http://quiltingstencils.com/continuousteardrops12.aspx
I think the Continuous teardrops might be easier for me to quilt (looks simple, continuous line) but I'm not quite sure if it goes as well with the border design as the Tulipleaf. I already own the border stencil but I will need to order the block stencil.
Thoughts or other suggestions?

I like the teardrops as well. You could also just echo quilt the blocks either just the inner overall dimension or each individual block. It would be less seams to go over. But I think the teardrops will work well.
