I bought a treadle just like it a couple of weeks ago and I downloaded a manual off the internet. I also paid $100 for mine but it needed a belt and the presser foot and tension were seized so I took it to my machine repair man and it cost me $170 to get it all fixed but I think it was worth it. I've even sewed a couple of blocks on it. Wooks like a dream. The manual came in handy when I had to wind a bobbin. I couldn't remember how to do it. yours is probably similiar to mine. Go to Singer.com and check for a manual.

Get some Gojo-without pumice- from your auto parts shop and gently clean the machine head. It looks like some beautiful decals are waiting for you under the layer of gunk. Once you clean off the surface grime, you can rub a little machine oil over it and it will GLOW!
Inside the machine, put some Liquid Wrench everywhere the manual shows to put oil, and let it sit a bit. Then come back and clean that out with brushes, Q-tips, rags or whatever. Then re-oil the machine and it should run as great as it ever did.
Enjoy your beauty! These are the best machines... same model as mine in my avatar. It's my favorite to sew on and treadling is so relaxing and peaceful.

I thought you were going to tell us that as soon as you saw the red eye your heart skipped a beat and the pacemaker actually picked it up. LOL But seriously it sounds great that you are doing well and that you got such a great find. :thumbup:
