I found this book on Ebay and just bought it. Looks like I'll be waiting until it arrives to finish my quilt.

I'm not sure what shadow quilting is. Could you tell me? I don't like to do SID because I can't keep the stitching in the ditch and it looks sloppy when I do it. I've seen others and they do a wonderful job but not me.

You have a beautiful quilt, and an adorable fur baby! By the way, shadow quilting is my favorite because I too, cannot stay in the ditch. It is following the seam with the pressure foot, so you have an even distance everywhere.

I believe the most common quilting design of the 30's is the Baptist Fan and would work well with your quilt. Otherwise 1/4" out from selected parts.

Thank you! So....is shadow quilting when you quilt 1/4" away from the seam on both sides of it?

Lovely quilt. I love the look. I was also thinking Baptist fan or clamshell but not sure how those patterns work with machine quilting. I would so some cable or vine in the boarder.
