    Default 2"x2" ruler?

I have hundreds of 2" squares given to me by several older ladies or their family. Lights and darks are my leaders and enders.

I've been looking for a 2"x2" omnigrid style ruler for cutting 2" squares from my odd shaped scraps. I have the 2.5" square, but I'm constantly having to put on my glasses to get the right line aligned. I'd rather just have a 2" square, if they make one. Anyone know? Should I just forget it and make a template and be done with it?

    Thank you,

    Marcy

You can buy gridded two inch square rulers.

If you aren't concerned about having the grid lines, then you could but a two inch square cut from plexiglass as your template.

When I want something special like this, I just go to my local glass shop and they cut it for a very reasonable price.

Perfect Patchwork Templates has one (it is in set "B", number "12"). Website is:

Other option is an accuquilt board (#55022), cuts 36 2" sq at a time. Website is:

The accuquilt templates are for a cut 2.5" square. I think what Marcy is looking for is a cut 2", finish 1.5" -- she indicated she has the 2.5" ruler. Accuquilt does have a 2" cut die - 1.5" finished for both the Go and the studio:

    QuiltLady1......accquilt has both dies. The 2.5 in cut square cuts 9 x 6 layers = 54 2.5" squares at a time. And the 2.0" die cuts 6 x 6 layers = 36 at a time. I own both dies.

I totally understand your frustration! I think the Omnigrids are the worst, with all that neon yellow. I'm working on switching over to Creative Grids as they are much easier to see through. I'd like rulers for every half inch from 2" on up to about 18", but I don't know where I'd put them all.

I have the smaller one but much prefer to use the larger 6 inch to square them up. But then I usually use 2.5 in. squares instead of 2 inch.

When I need a square or a rectangle, I go to Lowe's and way back in the back of the store, they have plastic and they will cut it for you in any size and then you just pay for the the size you buy. I have have several squares in many different sizes, 5", 4", 3", 2" 2 1/2" x 12", etc. and they will all work nicely.

Take a couple lengths of painter tape and lay them on your 2.5 in ruler to mask it down to 2 in. if you can't find the 2 in.
