3-D Pinwheels
I need your experience in dealing with the 3-D pinwheels. I have the top all done with the pinwheels and am now working on the quilting. My question is how do the pinwheels behave after being washed? They lay nice and flat now, but how will they be after being washed? Am I going to need to tack them down? I don't want them to curl up or look funky...or need ironed after every wash. Input anyone? Here is a link for anyone not knowing about the 3-D pinwheels.

I was going to try to make my Great Granddaughter(#3) one but, chickened out. I would have tacked the points down. I had to do that w/prairie points, they did not stay laying down once the quilt was folded.

I really wouldn't worry about whether they stay down, or flip up. Is it a baby quilt? When Mommy washes and dries it, she can smooth them out if she needs to. And baby will enjoy playing with any that are flipped up.
Now, if it's not for a baby, forget what I said, and tack those puppies down to your hearts' content!

My grandaughters is now 2 1/2 yrs old and still do great. I sitched in the ditch and then just stiched around the pin wheel but not stitching it down, that was just for extra strength because I knew it would be washed alot. The pinwheels are still standing up like when new.
