    Default 3-D pinwheels

    Finished piecing 3-D pinwheel quilt and started quilting around the pinwheels. Question I have is...if you made this block, did you tack down the long side so the edges don't flap like bird wings? If so, can you post a pic of your finished block?

    It’s a personal choice but they do get wrinkled in the wash if left free.

    I've done 3-D pinwheels and 3-D Bowties, and didn't tack the long sides down. However, it might depend on how big the open side is. I might tack it down if it was longer than 3 1/2". I stitched close to each 3-D square, then quilted with a serpentine stitch between the squares.
