I have a pfaff with a built in walking foot, so I use the 1/4" foot, open toe foot and free motion foot. I've been making some little girl's clothes lately and have been using the " regular" presser foot and it seems so big and awkward after using the 1/4" foot so much!

1/4" foot, walking foot, and default foot. That's it. I've got about 12 different feet that came with my Janome. Those are the only three I've ever used, and ever needed. I only quilt, so I only need the basics!

Oh an easy question! The #57 quarter inch foot, walking foot and the open toe foot for applique.

What is a hopping foot? What does it do? Any pictures of it?

    Thanks, Dorrie

1/4" for piecing, FMQ foot for quilting, and walking foot for straight line quilting and adding the binding to the quilt. The only other foot I use is the open toe foot for using the lettering function on my machine.

1/4 inch foot, open applique foot and walking foot. Also just started using my FMQ foot on a regular basis, I have finally figured out how to do FMQ without tensing up so badly that my shoulders hurt.

Boy can I relate to that, I find that I use the 1/4 inch foot almost all the time with piecing. The regular foot has been in my tool caddy for months.

1/4", open toe, and normal foot on my Pfaff's, no need of walking foot as has built in IDT, on the 221 Singers the 1/4" foot for piecing, I just used my 221 for the first time on my retreat last week, worked great.

I use my 1/4" foot for all my piecing, an open toed embroidery foot on the rare occasions when I embroider. And iwould use the quiluting foot if I ever get around to the box full of tabe runners and smallish wall hangings I have. I use my 1/4" foot for putiing on binding and have never had any trouble. I use it because it is the foot that is always on my machine. Oh, and I use my left FOOT on the FOOT pedal!
