    Have you looked at EB "Nine Patch Party" quilt that is in her Still Stripping book? She easily makes a positive and negative 9 patch block from two 8" cut squares. I made this quilt from her book using florals but it would be as easy to just make it from two fabrics.

    ( For a 36 patch, using (6) 15" x 2.5" strips, sew a strata A, B, A, B, A, B. Subcut your 6 strata into 2.5" strips, reverse every other one. Easy peasy.) sorry luvspaper, you got there too. I make checkerboards for the kids and this is the easiest way. Makes one block with room for boo boos which I make a lot of. Lol!

    All one way, when you reverse every other row, you seams will nest.

    Thank you everyone! I have a plan of attack now, and as soon as I get a minute to get into my sewing room I will try again! When I get it to work I will come back an update this thread...keep your fingers crossed!
