Thankyou for all the helpful answers! I am looking forward to getting started.

Yes Swansea is a lovely place, the Gower especially nice with the beaches :) I would like to visit the USA one day but my husband is afraid of flying so it is hard to get him on a plane for more than 4 hours. lol

Do i need a special piece for my sewing machine or will a normal one be ok?

I'm not sure what you asking about when you say a ''special piece' for my machine. To finish the quilt, you can do a simple stich in the ditch ( SID ) with a walking foot attachment or you can drop your feed dogs, attach an open toe foot and do free motion quilting, loops and such....or you can skip all that and just use embrodery floss ( thread ) or yarn and tie the quilt sandwich together!! There are no rules but free motion work does quite a bit of practice to get your stitches even on both the front and back.....

    Enjoy!!

PS...your husband would never be happy on the plane for the 8 plus hour flight to America!!

I meant the foot for the sewing machine :)

As i have the normal one that came with the machine but no specialist types,so wondered if i needed to buy one.

    Thankyou for all the help.

I use charms alot and now i know to buy at least 2 or 3 packs of the same line as it takes alot of them to make a small quilt.
I especially like marbles, they make beautiful quilts.
