Personally I think where you live sets the price. I know that where I live that would be about right as you can never find one that anyone wants to sell. It looks like it is in beautiful condition which ups the price too.

From my experience, that's about twice what you should pay ... unless this is in absolute MINT condition, even then it should not be $600, more like $400-450 ... not sure about Canadian $$

Unless it is absolutely pristine like the ones on Graham Forsdyke's website (http://www.singer-featherweight.com/index.html), $600 is too much. Even if all the accessories are there, you need to make sure the foot pedal has been replaced or any changes have been made to the machine. Also, how old is the machine?

It is difficult to really check what the condition of the machine is from the one photo. I agree with TexasGurl that maybe $400-450 should be the max.

The machine should only be higher than that if the machine and case are absolutely pristine with as much of the original attachments and equipment, or it is the FreeArm version (Singer 222).

[QUOTE=cad_queen_2000;6046924]I've wanted a featherweight for a while, but I don't know the prices for them, and saw this ad today.

"Original 221 featherweight complete with case, all attachments & book. Completely serviced."

I bought both of mine for $300 ..They were in excellent condition with all the attachments included. It depends on how much you crave for one good luck and enjoy it f you buy it
The asking price is $600.00, and I was wondering if that is a decent price.

I'd wait for another to come along. I believe I paid around $300 for mine with all the attachments, etc.

If money is no object for you, it looks like a beautiful machine. I think that is too high and I couldn't afford it myself. Mine only cost me $200.00 and has worked well...

I think $600 is WAY TOO HIGH! My son picked mine up at Goodwill Store locally -- although it has no case or attachments and no book, the machine is in absolutely pristine condition, sews like a dream. He paid $50 for it -- it still had the original manufacturer's quality control inspection sticker on it! I think I'd look a bit more before I laid down $600. Right now, I couldn't spend $50 for anything. After four years of back pain, I am scheduled to see a neurosurgeon this week -- I may be having back surgery, so I'm probably not going to get to do much sewing or anything else for a while. I would surely like to hope there's something better than surgery, but I think I've just about tried everything. Since I won't have a paycheck while I'm out of work (I've already used up all my sick leave with my back), I am really squeezing my dollars!

I did see an ad quite sometime back for a Featherweight that was $1100 or $1200 -- I can't remember which. My comment at the time was somebody really liked their machine --because the seller sure had an inflated price on it!
