I think that is too high. My husband, who knows nothing about machines, bought one for $450 back in the days when prices were high, and that was high then. The highest I've paid was $360, and that for a pristine machine with perfect decals and not a scratch on it; in other words, a collector's machine. These days, I think you can get a Featherweight for $200-$300, and that is one with good decals and in nice shape.

I have Five Featherweights and have never paid more than $285 for the black ones. I paid more for my beige one, the white one and the 222 though. I have watched them on ebay and on www.shopgoodwill.com for the past four years. You should be able to get a complete black 221 for around $300 or less.

I paid $175 for one, $180 for another, and my best deal was one for $20 because it wasn't running at the time. $600 is a pure GOUGE, IMO...

I got lucky with mine . I paid £190 including postage. I recently had it serviced and the chap said I got a bargain, it should have been £500 plus because it is in such good condition. They are much more expensive in the uk than they are in the states.

In my part of the world, Featherweights are more about the presige of owning one than anything else. They are beautiful little machines and if I could get one for $150 or less, I'd like to own one--but for sewing quilt tops, mending, and everything else, I want a modern machine with all the bells and whistles I can afford. That means a lot less than $600 for a lightweight machine that will slip into my wheeled case and go with me wherever I go.

You can find a Featherweight for less than $600, but only you can know whether the machine you areconsidering is worth the better part of $1,000 to you. froggyintexas

WOW is right....I don't think they really want to sell it. Maybe it's on CL just so someone can say "Well I've got it up for sale, I can't help it if no one wants to buy it!"

Well, considering that Singer only started making FWs in 1933, just posting the date 1915 tells me the lister doesn't know what he's talking about. The machine looks to be in good shape, and if the table comes with it, I'd pay up to $350 for the set (up to $250 for the FW and $100 for the table). But $1,300 is ridiculous. Of course, if it's a 222, that's a different story.

It's very pretty. but priced too high - unless you dearly want it. I waited a while for mine and got 5 for less than 1/2 that much apiece. They are going up every day, but still seems a little high to me.
