Thank you to everyone for the lovely comments and suggestions. With so much talent on this board I was very hesitant to submit a picture. Thank you for being so gracious.

Austinite: They were cut out using Thangles. I would probably do them differently next time, but they worked

sushi: There isn't much to copy but you are more than welcome to do so. It wasn't hard, but kept me on my toes when sewing them together to make sure I had the squares in the right direction. Let us know how it goes.

I love the idea of the white being sewn down and the colored parts more "poofy". I won't have access to the longarm for another two weeks, so I will update as soon as I begin.

    thanks all!

I think I'd do some type of continious curve on the colored fabric and then do a combo of orange peel (at corners) and wishbone (which allows you to move along so well)on white. Very pretty quilt!

I'm in the process of making a chevron quilt from HSTs and plan to quilt pebbles in the white area so that the coloured area will stand out more. Not sure what I'm putting in the coloured area yet. Love your quilt.

Very nice and very pretty use of scraps. Lots of opportunity to practice quilting. I would look at a few magazines or quilting sites for ideas. Some would do an overall pattern and others would treat each element differently. I hope you will share it again when you have quilted it.
