Pretty good deal in my book. I believe the vx-1010 is the one sold at Walmart as their low end machine. I don't know about the XL but as long as the computer board is good and it sews well it should be a good machine.

I've got a cheap Brother, not that one, but it sews just fine. Straight and zigzag only, can't put feed dogs down, won't sew heavy fabrics very well---------------------but it's been a workhorse.

I have no problems with my 3 different mechanical low end Walmart version of Brothers. They are not fussy about anything.

My son got me a brother machine a few months ago. I really like it. I have it set up in my sewing room with my vintage machines and my newer janome. The brother machine is quite the little tiger. I really am happy with it. For $10.00 you can't go wrong.
