I put mine in a laundry basket and use what ever I pull out, otherwise I would put to much thought into it.

Someone on the list, I have forgotten who, unfortunately, guided me into making this one from strips. Not all of these were 21/2 to start with, but most were. I was very happy with the results. This was a guild challenge...to create a charity quilt from fabric scraps in bags.

Totally agree with this one as I KNOW I put too much thought into quilting.

log cabins would be easy to do. I like how they look scrappy. Everyone has their own way of doing them. Have fun with it.

When I first started making scrap/stash quilts, I started with a string quilt. I put the strips in a box and pulled them out one at a time. I HAD to use the one pulled unless it was the exact one I just sewed on. The best advise is not to over think the process.

I made a strip quilt recently and found it didn't work to totally color coordinate, but one thing that does help is alternating lights and darks so that they compliment each other. I cut squares of prewashed muslin and sewed my strips to them diagonally, trimming off the excess. It turned out really nice and made a nice dent in my stash!
