I found this ad on Craigslist-

"Retro Green Singer 328K Vintage sewing machine, made in Scotland in 1963. $100"

I e-mailed to ask about it but haven't heard back yet. Also tried to google but couldn't find anything. Anyone here have any photos of one, or info? And would $100 be a reasonable price?

I'm not a machine collector, I have my old 301 that I love and sew everything on, but the green bit has nabbed me. :)

I Googled "green singer 328k" and then clicked on images to get an idea of what this machine looks like. Not sure if it will work, but here's a link to what came up:

[Edit: I took out the link because it didn't work. Try Googling for yourself.]

I personally don't think it's worth $100 except possibly from a dealership offering a warranty with it. On the one-on-one market, I would think $50 would be the most it could be sold for......

Great vintage machine, but I would only pay in the $30-$40 range for it. If it has a great table, maybe a smidge more, but I've found if you wait they do become available in that price range...or less!!

Don't spend 100.00 on the machine. I wouldn't pay more than 25.00 for one, and only if it is in a cabinet.

328's will sew and they have a bright light! However, they have an internal belt to drive the lower linkage. This configuration makes them rattle and loud. This belt is in addition to the belt that runs from the motor to the hand wheel. The motor is also under-powered for the machine.

There are much better machines out there for the same or less money.

If it is green you want, look for a green Singer 185-K. It is the same as a Singer 99, only it is dressed in an updated body and painted a fresh minty green. They are sweet machines.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm going to pass on it, which is a good thing because now would really not be a good time for me to be tempted to shell out money for something I don't really need. :)

(May keep my eye out in the future for a green Singer 185-K, though... I'd better stay off of Craigslist! ;) )

I have a 328K except it is tan not green. I think $100 is too much for this machine. It is very basic although it is a high quality all metal machine.

What is the motor size on the 328?
