Thanks again for quilt block ID!
Wow - more cool facts to dig into with your help - I appreciate the feedback!
My internet speed is pathetic. I will try and get the other pics from my visit at mom's uploaded soon. The Pfaff 360 is in such nice shape, with so many original accessories and so on. That's another thread I will get to soon!

When I see these beautiful quilts I am reminded that the quilters of the past had no rotary cutters, the variety of rulers, clips, pins and needles, marking pens, and computerized machines that we have. What an art and quite the project. Amazing, beautiful and wonderful heirloom.

To preserve the quilt a little more and still put it one the bed, put a layer of bridal tulle over the entire surface. The pattern and colors will still show through; in fact, it will be almost invisible after you put it on. I tie the tulle down by attaching it on the back of the quilt. Hope this helps.

I had to log in to say ....What a Beauty! Just look at those fabrics. Adorable quilt. Of course you can frame a block or two of the best ones.
Actually, I am now 73! Can't change my addy, yet.

What a treasure. I was going to suggest hands all around until I read below about turkey tracks. My Mom made quilts as well as several other cousins, aunts, etc., however, none of Mom's quilts have survived. Maybe that's why I started a tradition about 12 years ago of making a family reunion quilt when we would get together every other July 4th. I'm really happy that I did that, although I have yet to be a winner of one of them, but hope springs eternal. I keep trying to get my niece to take over and she said I'm not ready to retire yet, but I'm glad I started a tradition that is looked forward to at every reunion, my quilts go to the reunions, even if I can't.

Oh what treasures we are finding in family attics. I love your quilt. I have four of my Grandmother's that need repair before I put them together, All are hand stitched. I just know I never could have gotten the pieces that straight with a pair of scissors instead of a rotary cutter. Wouldn't it be fun if we could bring them back and show them how we do things now?
