The only kit I have ever done has been Thimbleberries. Every month we get a different block pattern to do one 12 inch block and three 6 inch blocks and it comes with the fabric. This has been my only experience with kits. I usually just pick out my own fabric. More fun for me. :D :D :D

Lately I have been leaning toward the kits-just recently bought 2. I have bought so much fabric that I like but never use and now it just takes up space. I like the idea of someone picking all the fabric out for me. Much eaiser and faster.

Ummm... wouldn't it be possible to have a kit, where you just are provided with the pattern and the appropriate yardage (extra allowed for shrinkage :) )... and then you could wash, or not wash, the fabric as you choose?[/quote]
That's the kind of kit I would buy. My friend that works at a quilting store gave me a table runner for Christmas one year. Of course I washed the fabric. One fabric shrank so much that I had to use another fabric. Now my thinking is.....if I had washed the runner after making it, would the whole thing have shrunk up like a prune? :(

I bought a kit recently too! It was at Joann. And it was normally 69.99 but I had a 50% off coupon and it's for a queen sized quilt. I felt a little guilty doing it, but I got the entire thing (minus the back) for 35.00!! Havent made it yet...but Im glad other people do this too!
