    Default Adding Borders

When adding borders to a quilt do you square up the quilt prior to adding the borders or apply the borders then square before adding binding?

always square up unless you want to take a chance of a wonky quilt

I always square up after I put on the border but it would make sense to do it before. If you have problems with wonky sides or your quilt not squaring up easily, I'd definitely do it before.

I measure first, then I square up after borders. No problems so far. knock on wood.

I measure the left, center, and right , average it, cut two borders to that length and then sew them on, then I do it again for the other two borders. If doing a medallion quilt i TRY to make myslef do it every border. Lest my borders get "friendly" and wave at me!

Wow! I've never squared up before adding borders, so far I haven't had any problems. Maybe I need to start, although it does sound like it will take extra time to do.

I have never squared up before adding borders either. I never even thought of it. Hmmmmm, maybe I should have. Food for thought.

I never square up my quilts, no need to. I measure borders through the quilt center, cut borders to this size, both for the sides and then the top and bottom. If you squared up after the borders, they would come out crooked.

I do square up but when multiple borders I put them all on, as a strip, at once.
