Advice on choosing pattern to highlight Lake Superior
Part of my birthday gift to myself. Ore boats, Split Rock, Aerial Bridge. Need some advice on how to fit it into a quilt. Fussy cut the motifs and use coordinating batiks to frame? A medallion?

I have 3 yards. And, obviously, don't want to ruin it. It is a limited edition Kaufman in celery.

Sometimes prints like this have to be used as is, maybe as backing to make a double sided quilt. As you have only 3 yards it will be a small quilt; or you could strip piece down the middle and across each end to gain length.
Or you could use it in large borders on a Storm at Sea or other water-themed quilt. (Isn't there a Lady of the Lake block?)

Jan, I think I will flip your idea. If it is the center of the quilt, the Storm at Sea blocks could finish the sides, kind of like very wide borders. The center would be a fun place to do some fancy stuff. Maybe trapunto under the motifs.
But that would only use a little over a yard, so it would also need to be the outer border. Now to face the reality that none of my blues and none of my greens are really the right ones.
