Default Advice Needed for Applique - Challah cover

Finished my first challah cover (see pictures) and now my husband wants one for our Israel apartment. I decided to do one in applique. My question is what color thread to stitch on the applique. Should I use one color (like gold) or use different colors to match the object? Thanks!

if you don't want to change colors for each applique you could use a neutral-like medium gray that will almost disappear- or gold would look nice- make the appliques really stand out- either way will be nice.

What kind of applique stitch were you planning to do? If it's machine satin stitch, I think I would do it in gold. This is about the only place I would use my rayon thread. It doesn't take as much wear as other threads but I have one that is in a medium gold (not bright gold) about the colour of your background. You might be able to find something similar. If you want to go to the extra trouble of changing the thread colours, it would look spectacular. Your applique looks awesome!

I think that gold would really make your applique stand out.
What a beautiful job you have done so far - can't wait to see how you decide to finish it.

Thanks for all of your advice - gold it is since I'm too lazy to change thread that often and I think the applique can use some more definition!
