You all have such great ideas and information....thank you! I'm just quilting again after a very long hiatus and so many helpful tools weren't even thought about 20 years ago. Spray adhesive is one....at least in it's use in quilting.

What brand(s) do you use?
Are they water soluble?
Do they gum up your needle?
What do you do about overspray?
Other helpful information?

505 is the best. It is more expensive than the others, however. It does not gum up the needle, not hardly anyway. It is one of the one's that the overspray can be cleaned up. Some of the sprays are really hard to get up. 505 does not smell as bad as the others. I prefer to go to the church and push tables together so that I don't have to get down on my knees. When at home I use old painting sheets around the edges to keep overspray from getting on my floors or carpet.

Spray basting is the only way I bast a quilt any more.

Just make sure that you use a Temporary spray...there are cheaper ones out there that aren't temporary... and not a good thing :wink:
I mostly use June Taylor's brand...it is what is available where I live. It does not wash off of anything easily unless it can be laundered :roll:
Use all sprays in a well ventilated area...even the ones that do not smell as bad, the fumes are not good to breathe in.

As to the over spray...I put down a cheap throw away drop cloth from the dollar store and toss it when I am done.

I use Sullivans or 505. Depends what I have on hand. I put down newspapers to control the overspray.

Don't use sprays if you have a pet bird - could be fatal.
