There doesn't seem to be too many places to find the look of African quilts. For some reason, I am drawn to the boldness of color and arrangement of what I HAVE seen. Have any of you made an African wallhanging or bed quilt that you would like to share?

I have just clicked on the site DAKOTAMAID suggested, and noticed that the people on the tour in the photos bought fabric at Mnandis. That is where I bouht most of the fabric for my quilt. It is not a quilting shop, but they make up african dress and also sell the fabric. I promised to send the owneer a photo of when I had finished the quilt. Which I did, perhaps they have it up in the shop. The western cape is my most favourite place on earth.

Do you mean African quilts with images from African Nations or the African American quilts such as Gees Bend?

Oh WOW! Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about! Thanks

How did you do the village background in the lower left hand corner? Did you design the entire quilt?

That was a postcard that I copied and painted on the fabric. I did not design the quilt especially. It just evolved as I went along
