that might work if the unfriendly people were the workers, but in my case, it's the Owner herself! And I might add, the workers too. The only friendly one is the owner's husband, but he is rarely in there anymore. Maybe she banned him from coming in.... ha ha ha

Let's turn it around and only post the great reviews! I've seen several in this thread already that would entice me out if I traveled out that way. I'm less likely to remember the ones to avoid if I'm an out-of-towner.

So, if I came to visit where would we go?

We would go to the historical town of Salem, located in beautiful So. Indiana, to a QS located on the Court House Square. As you enter the large shop you would be greeted by a friendly employee and asked if you needed any help. We would enjoy looking at all the BOM's this shop has to offer and a list of classes that are available on a bulletin board near the front of the shop. We would take our time browsing thru the over 7000 bolts of fabric, admiring all the beautiful samples throughout the shop. We could sit at a table and look at books and patterns. Once we have decided on a pattern if we needed help in making fabric choices one of the ladies that work there would help us pull bolts of fabric off the shelves and arrange them for better veiwing. We would be awed by the notions wall and have no trouble finding anything we might need. Our thread choice would be quick and easy from the large selection of threads this shop has to offer. I think your going to like your shopping experience here and I know you will want to come back and if you have traveled a long distance and can't return often then you can always find them on their web-site. Hope you have enjoyed your shopping experience at my local quilt shop. Crafttown Fabrics

There's a LQS in Panama City, Florida that needs to be mentioned. When visiting my son, I stopped there and had a warm welcome and friendly time. It was slow that day so we chatted for some time. Yes , I made purchases.

Recently, I purchased material for a new quilt back in Orlando but could not find the shade of brown I needed for accent. My DIL ask me to send a sample and she went to that same shop. The ladies helped her, gave her samples and the bolt numbers. They had exactly the shade of brown I needed and I get it this week. The shop is "Quilting by the Bay, 2303 Winona Drive. 850-215-7282." There's not a lot of fabric stores in that area so this is a gem.

If your ever in the Columbus, Nebraska area, stop in at Claus'nPaus quilt shop downtown. (the name is a combination of the owners last names-their purchase packaging has paw prints) There is always a smile and a helpful hand, lots of samples, kits, and loads of fabric.

Don't they understand the longer you are there, holding, caressing and dreaming, the more you would probably buy? Maybe they don't like their business.

I love my LQS. The owner is willing to get you special order things, help you with design, offer different ideas. I am addicted to this shop. It's "Patchworks" in Sayville,
NY. I just wish it were larger so she could have MORE STUFF for me to buy.
