I seem to be full of questions for the Quilting Board the last couple of days. Today's question: I sent my husband to get me 505 basting spray (I've read that is the brand that the quilters on the board most use) and he came back with Aleene's Tacky Spray because it was cheaper. I'm afraid to use it. I've never spray basted. It says that it for use on any number of things including fabric but doesn't say the word "quilt". Has anyone used this before? And what were the results?

Does it say basting spray on the label? If not, I wouldn't use it. Some of the other cheaper ones are not water soluble, and I don't think I would use those.

*** I just looked it up, and it is a craft glue, not a basting spray***

No it doesn't say anything about basting or a quilt. It says that it is used for paper, fabric and several other things. It says that it dries clear. Thanks!

I use that to glue fabric to boxes, It won't work for basting, It will gum up your machine.

Your DH needs a konk on the noggin! Now it's wasted time and gas to get what you asked for in the first place.

Bellaboo you are so funny  but I have to agree with you. when we ask for a certain thing, that is what we need. when we had money and hubby would go to the store for me, he did the same thing. use to drive me nuts. I guess there is one good thing about being poor. :-D God bless. Penny

Being poor has nothing to do with it! If he wanted a 3/16" metric wrench and you bought the 2/16" instead because it was cheaper, would he be happy? Been there, done that. Hubby now knows better!
