I just attended my great niece's second birthday party. She got lots of toys and a Good Night Moon quilt from me. A couple hours later, a tired little Adeline took her new quilt out of the box and walked over to me and asked me to please take her for her nappie. Yup, I believe there are people who can feel the love sewn into a quilt. Then there are the others who never use it and never thank you. Adeline will have all the quilts her little heart desires.

Good for your daughter. Your training her right. I made three beautiful quilts four years ago for my three grand daughters and they didn't even let me know if they received them or liked them. I had to phone the other grand mother to find out if they even received them or not, they live in NC. Congratulations to you for raising your daughter right.

I crochet as well as quilt and always have people say it's too pretty to use. I try to explain it's well made but they are afraid to use it. I've also encountered those who not only use but abuse the things I make. I always just try and let it go completely when I give it away. I do love seeing my stuff used though. It makes me feel good to know something I've made is keeping my older girls warm since I live 300 miles away.

I loved the day my brother called me to see what it would cost him for me to make his youngest son another quilt since he had loved the first one "to death". He was so excited when I told him that I had made one for each of his four sons for Christmas that year.

My daughter has a whole box of my quilts set aside that she has "claimed" for when she moves out again. I have to go through the stack of finished projects (about 3 feet high) and give them to appreciating friends and family.

I was thoroughly disappointed when I gave quilts to my husband's family one year for Christmas - I had spread out all my quilts on the pool table on Christmas morning and let them pick the one they wanted to take home with them - not one thank you from the bunch! Those were the last quilts they were given. I found the one my mother-in-law had taken in the closet after she passed. It is on the back of my sofa in the family room and gets used often.

My son has only taken one quilt - it has been used "to death" and he definitely needs a new one. I will have to make it a point to get together with him and see what he wants for a replacement. He isn't in to the scrappy ones I make the most of so his are always a special project. The one he has now is a Snail's Trail. I attended a class in Sisters, OR one year and it took me another three years to finish the project - it has over 4,000 pieces in it and was a bugger to piece. He chose black/white for it and we had it quilted with yellow thread - it was prettier than I thought it would be when we got it back - that was so many years ago ...

I have a scrapbook of all the quilts I have made and I just love going back and looking at the thank you cards that I have been given - especially the ones from kids - that they wrote/drew themselves.

So ... to all of you quilt recipients ... please make sure you thank the giver, they have put many hours of work and love into your gift ... and all we really want is to know that you appreciate it and will use it "to death".

When I visit my daughter(my only child, and FAVORITE)this summer I will help her find a sewing machine. I'll take her some of my stash to start her out, and a few patterns. I know she will be hooked in no time!!! She has an addictive personality just like her mama!!!

My little 20-month old DGD just strokes all my quilts and says "ahhhhh". I was so happy when she finally said "quilts" for the first time last month. It sounds like "cuts" but I'll take it! We were in a LQS last week and she excitedly kept pointing at all the quilts on display saying, "cuts, cuts!" I know in my heart she's going to be a quilter because she loves to pet the fabric at the LQS. Aren't grandchildren wonderful?

My oldest son said he wanted a light wt quilt (he lives in Ga.) So i made him a"WOOBBIE", scrappy fleese blanket, and his son a denim scrappy. when he saw his son's quilt, he said that was just what he was trying to tell me he wanted. So I made him one too and told him to send the "WOOBBIE" BACK. He's keeping the "woobbie" n the denim quilt!

He's 50 yrs old n I still spoil him LOL.
