I love Dear Jane quilts, but there is not enough money in the world to make me piece one. LOL. I have a lot of admiration for those who do.

And Grandma 58 I am laughing because you are a wonderful quilter. Your star quilts are amazing. Love them. It is hard for some people to do star quilts and I think compared to piecing star quilts are alot more work.

I have been working on a peiced star called Judy's Star from The block Book by Judy Martin. It is a 12" star and has only 4 different peices. I am having a hard time with the outside points they keep disapearring, But I am cutting only enough peices to make 2 blocks at a time, as they are all going to be different colors. haven' done a peiced quilt in many years mostly do paper peicing and aplique and lots of embroidery.

Have I missed something basic here? I consider all my quilts traditional piecing but not traditional patterns, necessarily. Well traditional so far as the piecing is concerned. I definitely do it on machine rather than by hand. Or is it only hand work that is considered traditional piecing?
    lol I'm so confused now.
I take "traditional" blocks to mean the 9 patchs, 4 patches, 5 patches, and blocks like the Dresden plate, GMFG, Double wedding ring for example. The blocks our grandmas and aunts and such did

Instead of listing your email in a public forum, you might ask that she PM you instead - there are LOTS of bots, phishers, and spammers who will snag it and put it in their systems.... Just a suggestion...

Each block I finish I am in awe of all of you and all of the quilts you have made just a little bit more! For crying out loud there are so many pieces and how in the world do you remember how to put them together.

You are all incredible, really I mean that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are so many pieces!
If you do not do a test block first then run copies of your fabrics, cut them out the finished size of the piece and paste/glue them to another piece of paper, it will be your visual cheat sheet. Makes it easier than going back to small instructions.

I started with 3 3/4" squares and am randomly sewing the blocks - it is getting to be fun, there are so many combinations! I am only doing one or two at a time.
