BTW, I have been quilting since I was in my 30's. I am 51 now, so maybe in his mind I am an old woman. I also ride a HarleyDavidson Roadking and have tattoos. So there.

I spent a few years teaching kids how to quilt and they loved it. I had one student who was 12 years old who made the most astounding quilt ever. Also, you're only as old as you think you are. I am 65 but I happen to think I am about 40. I'm afraid your male friend (?) is a bit out of touch himself!

I fell yesterday and had to have 5 stitches on the bridge of my nose. While the Dr was putting them in I asked him if he quilts, he said no but his mom taught him early how to sew on buttons and do hems. He said he has done alot of faces tho!LOL

hay, I am not old. Yes I am but I only feel 20. That is what counts. I have worked with 7 year olds quilting. I also have taught teens (16-18) to quilt and they are still quilting. Quilting makes a person stay young, with all the neet fabrics and patterns. You need to tell him, "you are as old as you want to be"

I am teaching my 7 1/2 year old granddaughter to quilt. She is making a wall hanging for the county fair. She loves it.

My daughter was 22 when caught the quilt bug. And look at all the pictures posted on this site of children with their own first quilts!

I live on a remote Caribbean island where there is a medical school. For the past five years I have been teaching/helping the spouses to learn to sew and quilt. They love to do it and have made many beautiful quilts. The youngest so far is just 21 years. The oldest is in her early 30's. They are so proud of their work and have done wonderful quilts. Hopefully they will carry on and teach others.

Hey, I am only 29. Well, plus 31. Quilting is not about age it is about artistry.

Any of you want to come forward and let yourself be known so I can tell my friend?
Kids from pre-teen at churches and schools with adult supervision along with quilt divas of all ages are making small quilts for kids staying at Ronald McDonald House Cincinnati while having medical procedures at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Thanks to my mother/master seamstress, I learned to sew at age 7.
