I am making the Alter Ego pattern from MSQC. Happened to get the "Lovely" layer cake in the Daily Deal and 2 yds of the border. My question is do you pull out 10 light and 10 dark pieces from the layer cake to make the 4 patches and use the other 20 pieces to make the hourglass blocks? Other? Does anyone know how wide the border was cut so that you still have enough from the 2 yds to make the binding?

directions from her magazine Quilting Quickly: From 11 dark print squares, cut: each square in half diagonally in both direction to make 4 quarter square triangles. From 11 dark print square cut: 2 (5" x 10") rectangles. From each of 11 light print squares, cut: each square in half diagonally in both direction to make 4 quarter square triangles. From each remaining light print squares cut: 2 (5" x 10") rectangles. From black sold, cut" 7 (2 1/2" wide strips. Piece strips to make 2 (2 1/2 x 61 3/4) side inner borders, and 2 (2 1/2 x 57) top and bottom inner borders. From purple print, cut: 7 (5" wide) strips. Piece strips to make 2 (5 x 66") top and bottom outer borders and 2 (5 x 65 3/4") side outer borders. 8 (2 1/2 wide) strips for binding. Hope this helps.
