Default Alternative color for back ground white. Bee in Bonnet Farm Girl Vintage quilts

One of my daughters wants to make the Farm Girl Vintage Sampler quilt from Bee in My Bonnet. She does not like the all the white back ground. What are some options for alternative colors. Also she plans to make it with brights and tone on tones.

She could use black. It makes colors pop.

Thanks Mike's Girl. I will let her know. It sounds like it will keep it nice and modern looking.

I've just spent about 10 minutes trying to find a source for more info and a possible purchase of the book. Fat Quarter Shop advertises it but when you use their website you get a "this page is not available" notice. If I wanted to buy it, what do I do?

Would a light chambray blue work against her brights and tone-on-tones? Or a very light grey would look good too I think.

Wow that is cheap! I paid nearly $30 including tax just last October.

Hmmm I like that. I did mention grey to her but she did not seem that interested. Maybe nice tone on tone chambray like you mention. Thanks! She will be home in a couple of hours and I will let her read the posts.

If she likes more of a modern look, I agree, gray, chambray, black, and navy are all good choices. Black and navy will make the colors pop, especially if you use vibrant jewel tones. If she wants pastels, I'd recommend going with gray or chambray.

I did a search on Pinterest for "gray background quilts", hopefully you'll be able to see the results here: https://www.pinterest.com/search/pin...yped&term_meta[]=gray|typed&term_meta[]=background|typed&term_meta[]=quilts|typed

Your daughter might change her mind about the gray once she sees some lovely examples.
