OK, I do not have a iron and right now I can not buy one. We are having money problems that I am trying to straighten out. So what can I use or do to get a simular effect for fabric? I am working with jeans right now and need to press some squares that are wrinkled. When I put this top together how can I press the seams? I am stuck till I can figure this out since I have many pieces that need pressing that I still have to cut.

    Thanks all

Do you have a Goodwill or any thrift stores in your area? I have found several very good irons at thrift stores, and for just a few dollars.

I would heat the bottom of a heavy skillet and use that as an iron. Or ask the neighbor to borrow theirs.

Could you leave the pieces over night between stacks of books, or two boards weighted with bricks?

Try Freecycle.com or Craigslist.com you can post a request for a free iron and you will probably have offers for more irons than you can possibly use

Hmm thanks for some ideas. As far as friends and family nobody has an iron. Clothes today just do not need ironing like many years ago. Pans are not a good idea as bottoms are dirty cast iron and all. Buying one is totally out as I am working to catch up on late payments as is.

Ok, is it the pressing that is important or just the flatness? I do have a working clothes dryer. If I used that then pulled out while hot and layed flat Would that be good enough for seams? I know it would work for jeans material getting unwrinkled. I will have to check about heavy weight abjects to see what I have beside bookends made out of granite. Plan on trying them since I do not need them as bookends right now.

    Thanks all.
